7. Worn-out products
The fan unit contains a circuit board with electronic
components, a small proportion of which comprise
toxic substances. The battery contains no mercury,
cadmium or lead, and is therefore not regarded as
environmentally harmful waste. For proper handling,
collection and recycling, worn-out fans should be
handed in to a recycling centre, where they are
accepted free of charge. In some countries, you may
hand in your products as an alternative to the sales
outlet if a new equivalent product is bought. If you
handle the disposal correctly, valuable resources will
be saved and possibly negative effects on human
health will be prevented. Contact the local authorities
for information on the location of your nearest
recycling centre. Unsatisfactory disposal of these
products may be punishable by a fine.
