4 Adjustment

4.1 Adjustment of standing safety

Attention!
If the prosthetic socket is tilted more into anterior direction
at the proximal pyramid connection of the joint, the standing
safety is increased. If the prosthetic socket is tilted into posterior
direction, dynamics is increased while the standing safety is
reduced.

4.2 Adjustment of the swing phase

The dual chamber pneumatics of the KINEGEN.air-active serves the
adjustment of extension and flexion of the knee joint during swing phase.
By factory setting, the extension valve of the KINEGEN.air-active is adjusted
to unrestricted flexion of the knee joint. For safety reasons for new users, the
flexion valve is set so the knee joint is only slightly flexed when swinging the
leg. The integrated extension assist supports the extension of the knee joint
and counteracts the flexion. Optimal adjustment of the swing phase provides
a harmonized gait pattern to the prosthesis user, as well as energy-efficient
walking. Among others, the swing phase behavior and therefore the gait
pattern is also influenced by the length of the below-knee prosthesis, the
weight of the foot / shoe and the activity of the user.
Attention!
Before adjusting the joint on the user, please strictly observe
that the flexion resistance must be adjusted before extension
resistance. If the extension resistance is increased first, the
patient may fall, because the knee joint may not be fully
extended during heel strike.
