4. Maintenance:
Extensive maintenance work must be carried out only at large
intervals (approximately every 2000 -- 3000 operating hours).
However, at the latest, when loss of oil is detected, running is
noticeably sluggish or there is a reduction in clamping force,
the chuck must be removed from the machine and general
cleaning must be performed.
For this, the chuck should be dismantled into its individual
parts, checked for wear, cleaned, reassembled after repairing
defective components and refilled with oil. It is particularly re-
commended that sealing elements subject to dynamic stress
be replaced during this operation. A set of the wearing parts
and sealing elements indicated in the piece list should there-
fore always be available for such cases.
5. Dismantling and assembling the chuck
1.
Loosen and remove the fastening screws of the
adaptor plate (item 2).
2.
Lift the adaptor plate (item 2)
from the chuck body (item 1).
3.
Pull out the piston (item 3) together with the
three wedge slides (item 4) towards the rear
from the body.
4.
Push the bolt (item 13) sideways out of the
pendulum sleeve (item 11).
5.
Remove the pendulum sleeve (item 11) from the
swivel pin (item 5).
6.
Loosen and remove the fastening screws of the
ball flange (item 7).

Ensure with the greatest of care that marked components are
reinserted in the positions intended for them when reassem-
bling the chuck.
If this is observed, rebalancing of the previously dismantled
chuck is usually unnecessary. However, attention should be
paid to the running smoothness of the chuck during a test run
after the general inspection. If the running smoothness is not
satisfactory, the chuck can be re--balanced at the manufactu-
rer's facility or with a mobile balancing unit by a RÖHM techni-
cian at the customer's premises (this involves an additional
charge).
7. Pull out the swivel pin module
(items 5,6,7,8,9) towards the front.
8. To dismantle the swivel pin module, first remove the
bolt (item 13).
Clean all parts, check them and thoroughly lubricate them with
Röhm F80 grease.
To assemble, proceed in the reverse order.
If several parts of the same type are used, they must be mounted
at their original locations under observance of their location
marks.
