2. Mounting the chuck on the machine spindle

1.1 Check the machine spindle head or the finished interme
diate flange on the machine for concentricity and axial
run--out (0.005 mm permitted according to DIN 6386
and ISO 3089).
1.2
The design of the center assembly must be such that the
chuck rests against its square face and centering can take
place with as less backlash as possible. The square face
at the spindle or the flange must be absolutely even.
1.3 Remove the cover (item 10).
1.4 Move the draw bar to the frontmost position.
1.5 Pull the clamping piston (item 3) in the chuck towards the
rear. Then the swivel pins (item 5) are in the innermost
position.
1.6 Screw the power chuck all the way on the draw bar.
(Take care that the draw tube thread is aligned.)
1.7. Unscrew the chuck until the bore and the positioner of the
spindle head coincide.
1.8 Press the chuck against the spindle nose and tighten
the chuck tightening screws (item 20) alternately.
1.9 Check the setting dimension X (see figure) and correct it
if necessary. This ensures that the piston (item 3) reaches
the limit position at the front in the cylinder.
1.10 Check the functioning, jaw stroke and magnitude of the
actuation force.
1.11 Check the concentricity and the axial run--out of the chuck
at the control edge.
1.12 Replace the Cover (item 10)
To dismantle the chuck, proceed in the opposite order.
3. Maintenance
1.
The service condition of the clamping device is decisive
when it comes to its functionality, clamping force,
precision and service life expectancy.
As the chuck is permanently lubricated
(oil--bath lubrication), maintenance is reduced to a
minimum:
Check the oil level once a week or every
120 operating hours and top up oil if necessary.
Oil change once per annum for reasons of ageing.
Attention:
If, during normal operation of the chuck, any loss of oil
is noticed, the leak must be investigated without delay,
sealed again and the missing oil replaced.

Changing or topping up oil
--
Move the chuck piston (item 3) to the frontmost position.
--
Place an oil collecting tub under the chuck.
--
Screw out the oil draining screw and drain out the entire oil.
--
Rotate the chuck so that the oil filling screw is at
the highest point.
--
Screwing out the oil filling screw.
--
Topping up oil until it escapes from the highest point again.
Lubricating oil used:
Aral Deganit BW 220.
--
Actuate the clamping piston (item 3) several times and
collect the oil that escapes with a rag..
--
Screw in the oil filling screw again.
--
Clean any oil residue off of the chuck.
--
Dispose of the old oil and any rags contaminated with oil in
the approved manner.
