tool is switched off and when it is running idle in addition to
the trigger time.

Electrical safety
This tool is double insulated; therefore no earth
wire is required. Always check that the power
supply corresponds to the voltage on the rating
plate.
If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the
manufacturer or an authorised Black & Decker Service
Centre in order to avoid a hazard.

Assembly
Warning! Before attempting any of the following operations,
make sure that the tool is switched off and unplugged and that
the saw blade has stopped. Used saw blades may be hot.
Fitting the saw blade (fig. D)
Hold the saw blade (8) securely. If the saw blade is fitted
with a tooth protector, leave it attached while fitting the
blade.
Pull the blade clamp lever (2) up to release the blade
clamping mechanism.
Insert the shank of the saw blade (8) into the blade holder
as far as it will go.
Move the blade clamp lever (2) down to lock the blade
clamping mechanism.
Remove the tooth protector, if fitted.
Note: This tool has been designed to allow the saw blades
to be fitted with the teeth facing forward or backward.
Auxiliary handle
The auxiliary handle offers a greater choice of gripping
positions. Eight clamping locations are available for the
placement of the auxiliary handle.
Attaching the auxiliary handle (fig. B)
Wrap the handle (3) and strap around the forward gripping
area of the saw.
Make sure that the handle (3) and strap indexing features
(7) are fully engaged in the matching saw positions.
Hook the clamp and strap together and press the clamp
lever to the handle (3) to securely latch the handle.
Check to make sure that the handle (3) is secure before
cutting.
Removing the auxiliary handle.
Lift the clamp lever and unhook the clamp from the strap.
Separate and remove the handle (3) and strap from the
saw.
Adjustable shoe (fig.E)
The shoe (1) will adjust to limit the depth of cut.
Hold the saw with the underside facing up.
Push the shoe release button (6) on the hand g r ip and slide
the shoe (1) out to one of the three settings and release the
button.
Residual risks
Additional residual risks may arise when using the tool which
may not be included in the enclosed safety warnings. These
risks can arise from misuse, prolonged use etc.
Even with the application of the relevant safety regulations
and the implementation of safety devices, certain residual
risks cannot be avoided. These include:
Injuries caused by touching any rotating/moving parts.
Injuries caused when changing any parts, blades or
accessories.
Injuries caused by prolonged use of a tool. When using
any tool for prolonged periods make sure you take
regular breaks.
Impairment of hearing.
Health hazards caused by breathing dust developed
when using your tool (example:- working with wood,
especially oak, beech and MDF).
Use
Switching on and off
To switch the tool on, squeeze the on/off switch (4).
To switch the tool off, release the on/off switch (4).
Variable speed selector wheel (fig. C)
The variable speed selector wheel (5) offers a choice of
speeds for greatly improved cutting rates in various
materials.
To select a slower speed for operating the saw, rotate the
wheel to a low number on the dial. To select a higher
speed, rotate the wheel to a higher number.
