Limitations:
PARI MONTESOL nasal rinse must not be used in cases of
– injury to the nasal roof, the paranasal sinus walls or the base of the skull
– palatine paralysis
– nosebleeds
– a predisposition to choking
– individual intolerance or hypersensitivity towards any of the ingredients in the saline
solution listed above
Side effects:
Correct use may cause mild irritation, such as a ticklish or stinging sensation in the
nose, and an individual reaction (headache and more abundant mucus production). If
you are using topical cold medicines (e.g., decongestant nose drops) at the same time,
allow a reasonable pause between the two types of preparation.
No other limitations or cross-reactions with other substances have been reported with
correct use.
Application:
• Unscrew the cap on the PARI MONTESOL nasal rinse supply bottle, but do not
remove it from the bottle.
• Hold the bottle upright.
• Gently squeeze the bottle.
The concentrated saline solution will rise into the upper dosing chamber.
• Keep squeezing until the liquid reaches the dosage mark. When pressure on the bot-
tle wall is released, excess saline solution drains out of the dosing device and runs
back into the bottle.
• Take the cap off the supply bottle.
• For reasons of hygiene, avoid contact with the inside of the dosing device.
• Pour the dosed unit into the clean, prepared nasal douche.
• Close the supply bottle securely with the screw cap.
• Fill the nasal douche up to the bottom edge of the screw thread. Use drinking water
at a temperature of 37 °C, i.e. normal body temperature.
Caution:
– Use only drinking water to prepare the nasal rinse solution. People with an
elevated risk of infection (e.g., those with a suppressed immune system, peo-
ple suffering from mucoviscidosis/CF) must use boiled or sterile water.
– Do not attempt to keep unused residue of the rinse solution. Dispose of all
unused solution. Otherwise bacterial contamination may occur.
Rinse solutions must always be prepared fresh.
The rest of the procedure is described in the instructions for use of the nasal douche.
Frequency of use:
You can rinse the nose as needed up to 3 times a day with 250 ml isotonic saline solu-
tion. The recommended frequency is once per day. For rinsing and cleaning the nasal
passages over a prolonged period, we recommend rinsing 2 - 3 times per week.
If your symptoms have not improved after 14 days, consult your doctor or chemist.
