Apply pipe sealant to pressure gauge assembly and tight-
en into hole. Pressurize motor housing to 10 P.S.I. Use
soap solution around the sealed areas above the oil level
and inspect joints for "air bubbles". For sealed areas
below oil level, leaks will seep oil. If, after five minutes,
the pressure is still holding constant, and no "bubbles" /
oil seepage is observed, slowly bleed the pressure and
remove the gauge assembly. Replace oil. Leak must be
located and repaired if pressure does not hold.
Oil Replacement Motor Housing
Remove pipe plug (42) from motor housing (41)
Drain oil (if not already done so) from motor housing (41)
and dispose of properly per local codes and regulations.
Place pump upright and refill with new cooling oil, see
"Cooling Oil" chart for approved oils. Refill the motor
housing (41), the oil level must be level with the top of
the motor inside of the motor housing (41) to allow for oil
expansion. Apply pipe thread compound to the pipe plug
(42) prior to assembling back into the motor housing (41).
DO NOT overfill oil. Overfilling of housing
with oil can create excessive and dangerous
hydraulic pressure which can destroy the
pump and create a hazard. Overfilling
oil voids warranty.

WARNING
disconnect and lock out electrical power to
pump.
Cutter Disassembly
Lay pump on its side and remove the cutter retaining
screw (3) and retaining washer (4). A small amount of heat
may be needed to loosen the retaining screw (3). DO
NOT overheat. Wedge a flat head screwdriver between
the rotating cutter (6) and the stationary cutter (8) and
remove the cutter retaining screw (3). Remove the rotat-
ing cutter (6) by sliding it straight off the shaft (17) and
remove the key (5) by pulling this from the keyway be-
tween the shaft (17) and the impeller (10). Care must be
taken not to misplace the shim washers from behind the
rotating cutter (6) as they are needed to properly space
the rotating cutter (6) from the stationary cutter (8).

Disassemble before any
service work is done,
CAUTION
removed before removing volute.
Volute - Remove hex socket head cap screws (40) from
the volute (9).
Stationary Cutter - To replace or remove stationary cut-
ter (8), remove cutter plate retaining screws (1) and then
remove stationary cutter retaining plate (2).
Impeller - Remove the impeller by sliding the impeller off
the shaft.
Shaft Seal - Remove snap/retaining ring (11) holding the
lower seal on the shaft (17). Remove the seal spring re-
tainer, seal spring, and seal rotating component (12) from
the shaft (17).
Seal Plate - Remove cap screws (50) from power cord as-
sembly (49). Remove power cord assembly with plate (49)
from motor housing (41). Remove connector assembly
snap ring (48) from motor housing (41). Remove con-
nector assembly (47) slowly, exposing lead wires, discon-
nect wires from the connector assembly (47) that are
connected from the motor and capacitor components in
the motor housing (41). Carefully remove the connector
assembly, ensuring the O-Ring (46) is not lost during dis-
assembly. Remove hex socket head cap screws (1) from
seal plate (13) attaching the seal plate to the motor hous-
ing (41). Remove seal plate (13) and O-Ring (14) from
seal plate (13). O-Ring (14) should be replaced upon
assembly. Press the stationary portion of the mechanical
seal out from the inside of the seal plate (13).
Checking Capacitors When Equipped - Prior to checking
or removing any capacitor wires, ensure the capacitors
have been fully discharged using the proper equipment
(Capacitive static discharge tool). Once the capacitors
have been discharged, they may be removed. Connect
an Ohm meter, set on high scale (above 10k ohms to 1M
ohm) to the capacitor terminals. If the needle moves to
zero and then to infinity, the capacitor is good. If us-
ing a digital meter, use the same setting and the meter
will first read zero and then infinity. If the needle on the
analog meter or the digital meter does not go back to
infinity, the capacitor must be replaced.
