FRONT PANEL FUNCTIONS (CONT.)
Tonal Note 2: The higher the MASTER
volume level, the more pronounced the
EDGE function will become.
8. MASTER
This controls the overall volume of the
amplifier.
The PULL POWER REDUCTION
function drops the amplifier's output
power from 30 Watts to 5 Watts when
activated.
Tonal Note 1: The PULL POWER
REDUCTION function results in a
slightly warmer, less 'in your face' sound.
The switch is located with the MASTER
control because it is a power stage
function. When power is dropped tonal
integrity is maintained.
Tonal Note 2: The drop in volume will
vary depending on the level of the
MASTER volume – the higher the
MASTER volume level, the less the
perceived volume drop will be.
Tonal Note 3: The 'no load' MASTER
potentiometer is disengaged from the
signal path when set to maximum, so
the amplifier behaves like a non-master
volume amplifier.
Tonal Note 4: The MASTER volume is
located post phase inverter. This allows
the phase inverter to have a greater
effect on the amplifier's tonal character
and playing feel, giving the Astoria
Custom a more boutique-like vibe.
9. LOOP STATUS LED
The LED indicator will light and glow
amber when the FX Loop is engaged.
Technical Note 1: The FX Loop is engaged
either by the LOOP toggle switch (Rear
Panel Function #6) or by the supplied
footswitch.
Technical Note 2: When the footswitch is
connected it takes precedence over the
LOOP toggle switch.
10. POWER INDICATOR
This will light and glow amber when the
power is switched ON.
11. STANDBY
This switch is used in conjunction with
the mains power ON/OFF switch to
'warm up' the amplifier before use and
to prolong the life of the output valves.
Always ensue the STANDBY switch is in
the STANDBY position before switching
the amplifier ON.
This allows the application of the voltage
required to heat the valves to their
correct operating temperature. After
approximately two minutes the valves
will have reached the correct operating
temperature and the STANDBY switch
can be engaged by switching it to the
ON position.
In order to prolong valve life, STANDBY
alone should be used to turn the
amplifier on and off during breaks in
performance.
12. ON/OFF
This is the mains power switch for the
amplifier. When switched ON, the power
indicator will light and glow amber.
