BEFORE USING THE DEVICE, PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING INSTRUCTIONS
COMPLETELY AND CAREFULLY . CORRECT APPLICATION IS VITAL TO THE
PROPER FUNCTIONING OF THE DEVICE .
INTENDED USER PROFILE: The intended user should be a licensed medical

professional, the patient or the patient's caregiver. The user should be able to read,

understand and be physically capable of performing the directions, warnings and
cautions in the information for use.
INTENDED USE/INDICATIONS: The AirSelect Achilles Walker is designed to provide
support and immobilization to the lower leg, ankle and foot. It may be suitable for
post operative treatment of percutaneous or open achillorrhaphy.

CONTRAINDICATIONS: Do not use if you are allergic to any of the materials
contained within this product.
WARNINGS AND PRECAUTIONS:
• This device is to be used under the supervision of a healthcare professional. The
determination of when to apply the brace and the frequency and duration of use
should be strictly at the discretion of the treating physician. Always consult with your
physician before making changes to the brace.
• Do not use this device on patient's incapable of communicating physical discomfort.
• Do not over-inflate aircells. Improper aircell inflation may cause significant skin
irritation, especially in people with diabetic neuropathy. Reduce aircell pressure with
any visual skin changes or reported discomfort.
• Patient's without sensation (i.e. post-op anesthesia, neuropathies, etc.) should be
monitored frequently for skin damage, skin irritation or wound management.
• Use caution when walking on slippery or wet surfaces to avoid injury.
• Do not over tighten straps. This may result in reduction of blood flow or sensation.
• Do not use over open wounds.
• Do not modify the device or use the device other than intended.

• At high altitudes the aircells will expand beyond their optimal level. Adjust aircell
support by tightening or loosening straps.
• Do not use this device if it is damaged and/or the packaging has been opened.
• If pain, swelling, changes in sensation or other unusual reactions occur while using
this product, consult your medical professional immediately.
NOTE: Contact manufacturer and competent authority in case of a serious incident
arising due to usage of this device.
Functioning of the Wedges: The Standard set includes five heel supports in various
sizes. Depending on the shape and length of the foot, three wedges can be placed on
top of the other and secured to the walker around the heel. For the small walker the
three smallest supports are generally used, for the large, the three largest and for the
medium, the medium sizes. The XL set includes three heel supports and are used for
the XL walker.
APPLICATION INFORMATION:
1 . Prepare Brace
• Remove sock and Heel Wedges from inside brace.
• Unfasten straps, remove front panel, and open toe cover and foot flaps.
2 . Prepare Heel Wedges
• Peel off tape backing from bottoms of largest wedge. Secure the wedge to the
heel section of the sole on the walker (Figure 1).
• Peel off tape backing from bottom of other wedges. Affix the other two
supports on top of the bottom wedge, with the smallest wedge on top
(Figure 2 & 3).
• Place as many wedges as needed for the correct heel angle (Figure 4).
Three wedges = angle of 22 degree
Two wedges = angle of 16 degree
One wedge = angle of 10 degree
Remove wedges as needed during the healing period.
3 . Appliquer l'orthèse
Enfiler d'abord le chausson inclus avec l'orthèse.
• En position assise, placer le pied dans l'orthèse en faisant reposer le talon contre le
dos de celle-ci. Enrouler les rabats du pied autour de celui-ci et le couvercle des orteils
autour de ces derniers (Figure 5).
• Remettre le panneau avant en place : Positionner le panneau avant de façon à ce que le
logo Aircast se trouve au-dessus des orteils et que le panneau du pied soit à l'intérieur
de l'orthèse. La partie supérieure du panneau doit être attachée hors de l'orthèse
(Figure 6).
• Attacher les sangles de bas en haut (Figure 7). Serrer jusqu'à ce que l'orthèse soit bien
ajustée sans causer d'inconfort.
4 . Ajuster lu support des cellules d'air
Les coussins d'air de l'orthèse Achilles sont initialement dégonflés.
• Gonfler en premier ceux qui se trouvent en contact avec la blessure. Faire tourner le
BOUTON DE SÉLECTION qui se trouve sur le côté droit de l'orthèse jusqu'à atteindre
le chiffre approprié (Figure 8). Le chiffre 1 gonfle le coussin situé sur le côté droit, le
chiffre 2 gonfle le coussin situé sur le côté gauche, et le chiffre 3 gonfle le coussin
arrière. La position verrouillée (Lock) doit être utilisée une fois tous les coussins gonflés.
Cela empêchera un dégonflage accidentel.
• Pour gonfler le coussin, placer le doigt sur le petit trou au-dessus du gros gonfleur
situé sur le côté droit supérieur de l'attelle (Figure 9). Gonfler jusqu'à ce que le coussin
soit bien ajusté.
• Pour gonfler l'autre coussin, faire tourner le BOUTON DE SÉLECTION pour atteindre
le chiffre approprié, puis appuyer plusieurs fois sur le gros gonfleur. Gonfler jusqu'à
ce que le coussin soit bien ajusté. Une fois tous les coussins gonflés, faire tourner le
BOUTON DE SÉLECTION jusqu'à la position verrouillée (Lock).
• En cas de gonflage excessif, dégonfler les coussins d'air.
5 . Dégonfler les coussins d'air
Pour dégonfler les coussins d'air, faire tourner le BOUTON DE SÉLECTION qui se trouve sur
le côté droit de l'orthèse jusqu'à atteindre le chiffre pour le coussin approprié (Figure 8).
• Appuyer sur le petit bouton de déverrouillage situé sur la partie supérieure droite de
l'orthèse et maintenir la pression (Figure 10).
• Dégonfler jusqu'à atteindre la pression désirée.
Remarque : Dégonfler les coussins d'air avant de retirer l'orthèse pour qu'elle s'ajuste
correctement lors d'une nouvelle mise en place.
Remarque : Une pression supérieure offre plus de support lors de la marche ; une pression
inférieure est plus confortable en position assise ou inclinée. La pression peut aussi être ajustée
en serrant ou desserrant les sangles.
Remarque : La coque peut être coupée à l'aide d'une scie ou de ciseaux à plâtre pour les
patients dont les mollets sont plus volumineux.
INSTRUCTIONS DE NETTOYAGE : Le chausson en mousse et les talonnières peuvent être
lavés à l'eau tiède (30 °C) avec un détergent doux, et séchés à l'air libre. Ne pas placer dans un
sèche-linge ni utiliser une autre source de chaleur pour le séchage.
GARANTIE : DJO Global, LLC réparera ou remplacera tout ou partie du produit et de ses
accessoires en cas de vice de matériau ou de fabrication pendant une période de six mois à
compter de la date d'achat.

haute densité. Sangles : nylon. Coussins d'air alignés (antérieur et postérieur) : polyuréthane
et polyester. Gonfleurs : TPU (polyuréthanne thermoplastique). Chausson : nylon/
polyuréthane/polyester (extérieur en mousse, intérieur en tissu à mailles). Bordure : polyester.
Semelle extérieure / semelle intérieure : EVA / caoutchouc. Bouton de sélection : nylon.
Chausson (Achilles) : acrylique / coton. Talonnières : polyéthylène / polyester / revêtement
textile non tissé.
