3.- MOUNTING AND PLACEMENT

3.1 Angling and placement

Angle the speaker towards the listener's ears, both horizontally and
vertically (such as when placing the speakers on an elevated posi-
tion).
Ideally, on a stereo system, the speakers and the listener, when vie-
wed from above, form a triangle of equal sides (equilateral). The
following drawing illustrates the concept.

When used in combination with a mixing console, it is a good idea
to avoid "splashing", which is produced by the reflection off the
board. Thus, whenever possible, it is recommended that you place
the speaker on a stand further back from the console.
The MONITOR series can be used both in either horizontal or verti-
cal orientation, although the latter is recommended.
The tuning port is located on the back of the unit. Do not obstruct
the port's output, as this will create low frequency anomalies.
The low and low-mid frequency response will benefit from placing
the enclosure against a wall, with a clearance of some 10 cm (4 in).

Monitor Series
If placement against a wall were not possible, place the speaker a
minimum of 2 metres (6 ft.) away from the wall in order to minimi-
se the ill effects on the frequency response arising from the reflec-
tion off the wall. This can be seen on the following illustration.
~10 cm (4 in.)
> 2 m (6 ft.)
Placing the speaker in the middle of a room (i.e. not against a wall)
will require +3 dB low frequency equalisation.
The MONITOR series does not feature magnetic shielding, so be
careful not to place the speakers too close to devices sensitive to
magnetic fields such as video monitors, computers or magnetic sto-
rage media (computer disks, tapes).
3.2 Fixed installation using the mounting points at the
base of the enclosure
Two M6 (metric 6) female threads are provided at the bottom of the
enclosure for fixed installations. This will allow a safe mechanical
anchor to a flat base stand for those installations where downward
tilt is desired on the speaker.
They use M6 x 13 mm threads. The correct length bolts are requi-
red, otherwise problems will result when they "bottom out" in the
nut. Do not use a bolt that penetrates more than 13 mm ( 0.52 in)
into the wood.
