compiere una maggiore escursione in quanto il diametro della puleggia è stato portato da 120 a
128 mm. Per questo motivo si raccomanda di montare esclusivamente la cinghia fornita nel kit. Il
vantaggio consiste nel poter mantenere prestazioni velocistiche in pianura e consentire di sfruttare
al massimo il rapporto corto ed avere un maggior spunto in partenza e in salita. Infilare la molla e
il secondo manicotto guidamolla. Inserire la frizione e bloccare tutto il dado fornito nel kit. Prima
di posizionare la nuova puleggia sull'alberino, infilare il rasamento fornito nel kit (12x17x1)
sull'albero porta puleggia (dis. A). Appoggiare la nuova cinghia fornita nel kit sul variatore,
calzarla sulla nuova puleggia e infilare il tutto sull'albero. Infilare quindi sull'albero all'interno del
dado che blocca la frizione, i due rasamenti (12x18x1) in modo che rimangano fra la puleggia
e la campana frizione. Calzare quest'ultima e fissarla con il dado. Rimontare il carter dopo aver
opportunamente lavorato le nervature, indicate nel disegno B, abbassandole di 4mm.
HONDA-PEUGEOT: i veicoli Honda e Peugeot, vengono equipaggiati con dei gruppi variatore
caratterizzati (secondo il paese e l'anno di produzione) da un mozzo della semipuleggia fissa
con diametri diversi. La Polini fornisce 2 diverse semipulegge mobili che si possono montare su 2
diversi modelli di mozzo. Per riconoscerne il modello è necessario smontare il gruppo variatore e
verificare la misura del mozzo con un micrometro come indicato nel dis. C.
PEUGEOT JET FORCE EVOLUTION: attenzione! La puleggia sfiora leggermente il carter
motore. Per un corretto montaggio fresare il punto dove tocca.
PIAGGIO-GILERA: per una resa migliore dei motori Piaggio e Gilera, lo Speed Drive dovrebbe
essere accoppiato al mozzo con la semipuleggia maggiorata Polini, disponibile nelle versioni con
puleggia da diametro 128 e 134 mm; è comunque possibile l'utilizzo accoppiato al mozzo con
semipuleggia Piaggio originale.
sPEEd drIVE
Polini Motori has designed and manufactured a new driven half-pulley to improve and increase
your scooter's performance, giving the engine the possibility of outputting all its power. For some
scooters models it could be necessary to remove the body plastic side and the starting pedal.
Remove the case placed in the transmission side being careful not to move the starting axle from
its housing, unscrew the clutch bell locking nut keeping it still using a self-locking calliper or a
screwdriver. Unscrew the clutch fixing nut and keep it off: remove the spring, the pulleys and
the transmission belt. Go on assembling the Speed Drive. This Speed Drive mobile semi-pulley is
characterised by two series of grooves with different inclinations and by a pulley with different
diameters. The inclination of the two series of grooves is respectively of 36° and 38° and it
has been studied in order to optimise the power transmission keeping constant the r.p.m. at the
maximum torque. For the setting up of the Speed Drive we suggest you beginning with the series
of 38° grooves (visible for the landmark on the left side). By using the 36° grooves it will be
possible to obtain a lowering of the intervention condition of the variator. The different inclination
of the two series of grooves changes the axial force which the semi-pulley acts with on the belt;
for this reason, with the Speed Drive it is necessary to use Polini contrast springs; we recommend
the white spring for medium-high power engines while the blue one for engines equipped with
"EVOLUTION" parts. During the assembling of the mobile half-pulley on the fixed one, to avoid
damaging the gas rings, place the ring on the edge of the fixed pulley collar and insert the mobile
pullet. Then remove the ring. We recommend the greatest care in the lubrication of the different
components; fill in all the grooves with grease, insert the dowels in their seats and assemble the
sleeve spring guide with a circular movement, paying attention not to damage the two gas rings.
Now you have to place a small quantity of grease in the hub (with the help of a screwdriver) that
will be centrifuged outwards through the specific holes, so that it lubricates the sliding zone. We
recommend the use of a special grease resistant to high temperatures. Cod. 242.030. Now insert
the spring and the second sleeve spring guide, insert the clutch and lock the nut.
Ø128 YAMAHA-MINARELLI ENGINES: The Speed Drive Kit with Ø 128 lets the belt an higher
excursion since the pulley's diameter has been increased to 128 from 120mm. For this reason we
suggest you assembling exclusively the belt supplied with the kit. The advantage consists in kee-
ping the better performance when driving in plane, exploit at the utmost the short shift and have
a better pickup. Insert the spring and the second sleeve spring guide, insert the clutch and lock
the nut. Before placing the new pulley on the primary gear, insert the spacer supplied with the kit
(12x17x1) on the primary gear supporting the pulley (draw. A). Place the new belt supplied with
the kit on the variator, place it on the pulley and insert all on the primary gear. Then insert the two
spacers (12x18x1) on the primary gear inside the nut that locks the clutch and be sure they stay
between the pulley and the clutch bell. Assemble the bell and lock it using the nut. Assemble the
case after working the ribs, as shown in drawing B, lowing it of 4mm.
HONDA-PEUGEOT: Honda and Peugeot scooters (according the country and the production
ENGLISH
year) are equipped with a mobile half-pulley's nut with different diameters. Polini can supply two
different half-pulleys that can be fitted on two different hubs models. To find out the right model it
is necessary to disassemble the variator group and verify the hub size using a micrometer as show
in drawing. C.
PEUGEOT JET FORCE EVIOLUTION: Attention! The pulley lightly touches the engine case.
For the right assembly mill the connection point.
PIAGGIO-GILERA: For the best performance of Piaggio and Gilera engines, connect the Speed
Drive to the hub with Polini tuned-up half-pulley, available in two different versions with 128 and
134 diameters. Anyway it is possible to connect it to the hub with the original Piaggio Pulley.
