have equal or higher characteristics
to the machine's power cord;
Do not use damaged extension
cords. Check them before using and
replace if necessary;
Always unplug the extension cord
before removing the machine's
power cable;
When it's an extension cord reel,
unroll the entire cable.
2.3 - BEFORE OPERATING
Make sure that the machine is only
used by who is familiar with the in-
struction manual.
To ensure a safe operation, you
must:
Check that all the accessories are
correctly assembled and attached to
the machine and in good conditions.
Never use damaged accessories;
Replace the defective or damaged
parts, as well all other worn parts.
Check for misalignments on moving
parts or any other conditions that
may condition a proper operation;
Check if all the nuts and screws are
properly tightened. It is important
to check the machine regularly in or-
der to ensure its security and effi-
ciency;
Check if the safety devices are in
perfect conditions and working cor-
rectly. Never use the machine if any
safety device is missing, inhibited,
damaged or worn;
Make sure that the switch is off
when you plug in the power cable. If
the button is damaged or doesn't al-
low to control the machine's opera-
tion, it must be repaired or replaced
in order to prevent an unintention-
ally start;
Identify the electrical installation
layout and the water and gas lines in
the area where the work will be per-
formed. Make sure that any circuits
or pipes will not be damaged while
operating the sander;
Remove any wrench or adjust-
ment tool before switching on the
machine. Having a tool attached to
the rotating accessory may result in
serious injuries.
Perform all the needed adjustments
and in case of doubts ask your dis-
tributor for assistance.
2.4 - WHILE OPERATING
Keep other people away from
the operating area. Never use
the machine if animals or people,
particularly children, are nearby.
Always wear personal protective
equipment.
Using
glasses, a P2 protection mask, ear
protection, non-slip safety foot-
wear, gloves and helmet under
proper conditions, reduces the risk
of injury.
Anyone who enters the work area
must wear personal protective
equipment. Fragments may be pro-
jected while operating the sander
and it may cause injuries outside the
direct work area.
The clothing worn while operating
the machine must be appropriate
and tight, such as a work coverall.
Do not wear loose clothing or jew-
elry. Keep hair, clothing and gloves
away from the moving parts.
Keep the work area clean, organized
and well illuminated in order to re-
duce the risk of accidents.
Avoid pressing the "ON/OFF" switch
when holding or moving the ma-
chine while still plugged in. There
might be a contact with the sanding
disc and clothing get tied in.
The control and safety devices in-
stalled in the machine must not be
removed or inhibited.
If the sander allows connecting with
dust extraction devices, make sure
28
that these are well attached and
used. The use of vacuum cleaners
reduces the dust and associated
dangers.
Do not cover the machine while op-
erating. To avoid the risk of heating,
always keep the ventilation outlets
clean and unobstructed to allow air
circulation.
When using the sander, place your-
self in a stable position and well bal-
anced. Hold the machine firmly with
both hands to ensure a continuous
operation and to withstand unex-
pected situations, such as the
sander arm kickback.
The kickback is a sudden reaction
that happens when the sander is
protection
switched on and when the rotating
disc gets stuck or is pressed. The
kickback causes an instantly stop of
the rotating accessory, which in turn
causes the sander arm to be forced
in the opposite direction of the
sanding disc rotation.
The kickback occurs due to an incor-
rect use of the sander or due to a
not proper working procedure
which can cause serious injuries to
the user. To avoid the kickback, the
following precautions must be con-
sidered:
Place and keep the rotating acces-
sory in the right position and well
tightened;
Never place your hand near the ro-
tating accessory once it may revert
over it.
Always use the additional handle
to have as much control as possible
over the kickback forces or reaction
binaries while operating the sander.
Do not place yourself in the area
where the sander arm will move in
case of a kickback.
Operate the machine with special
precaution on corners, sharp edges
