Listening to your system

Chapter 4:
Listening to your system

Using Direct listening

Use the Direct listening feature when you want
to hear the truest possible reproduction of a
source. All unnecessary signal processing
bypassed, and you're left with the pure sound
source.
While listening to a source, press DIRECT
to switch Direct listening on or off.

Using the Sound Retriever

When audio data is removed during the
compression process, sound quality often
suffers from an uneven sound image. The
analog Sound Retriever feature employs new
technology that helps remove the adverse
effects of compressing 2-channel audio files by
restoring bandwidth and smoothing jagged
artifacts left over after they have been
compressed, resulting in a wider sound stage.
Press SOUND RETRIEVER to switch the
Sound Retriever on or off.
The
indicator in the front display lights to
indicate the Sound Retriever is on.
Using the balance and tone
controls
Depending on what you are listening to, you
may want to adjust the bass, treble or left/right
balance using the remote control.
Note
1 The Sound Retriever, balance and tone controls are disabled, and the front panel display switches off.
