1. Application and Operation

The KEMPER mechanical filter unit is used mainly for source extraction of welding
smoke. The unit can have either one or two flexible exhaust arms. Options include
Automatic Start/Stop, On/Off Switch (for the exhaust hood), and Halogen Light Kit
(work light for the exhaust hood). The contaminated air is drawn in by the exhaust
hood and passes through the exhaust arm to the filter unit. Large particles are remo-
ved from the air stream by the pre-filter (1), which is easily replaced. The following
main filter (2) removes even the smallest smoke particles with 99 % efficieny.
Units with an activated charcoal filter (3) also adsob hazardous gases and fumes in
an additional filtering step. The so cleaned air is then returned to the work place.

2. Safety Precautions

Caution:
When using electrical devices, the following basic safety measures must be followed
to prevent shock, injury, or fire!
Read and follow these instructions before using the filter unit:
• Keep this Installation and Operating Manual handy.
• Do not use the unit to extract easily flammable or explosive gases.
(except when using explosion-proof units).
• Protect the electric cable from heat, oil, and sharp edges.
• Make sure the unit stands firmly and the brakes of the casters are locked.
• Use only original equipment filter.
• Do not operate the unit without filter inserts.
• Protect the unit from dampness.
• Unplug the unit before opening the control box.
