4. Maintenance
Except for occasionally readjusting the joints of the exhaust arm (see appropriate
instructions), the unit operates maintenance-free. Only the filter insert has to be
changed when it becomes necessary (as indicated by the monitor lights).
4.1 Pre-Filter Insert
The pre-filter insert comes with an exchangeable filter mat. Frequent changing of this
filter mat significantly prolongs the life of he main filter. The filter mat in the pre-filter
insert must be changed at least as often as the main filter.
To change the mat, follow these steps:
• Pull out the wire fasteners
• Take out the old filter mat and replace
it with the new one
• Secure the new filter mat with the wire
fasteners.
4.2 Main Filter
The saturation level of the main filter is electronically monitored.
When the red light on the control panel comes on (see ill. 2), the main filter must be
changed.
When exchanging the main filter you are to ensure that no damage is caused to the
seal on the underside of the filter.
To remove the filter, the font side is lifted slightly and then the filter is removed slowly.
The same procedure is used when replacing the new filter.
The cleaning of the filter mountings inside the unit and the application of a lubricant
(e.g. Washing liquid) eases the insertion of the new filter and protects the seal
against corrosion.
Caution:
Do not attempt to clean the main filter. Shaking it or using compressed air will destroy
the filter. Contaminants can reenter the room!
4.3 Activated Charcoal Filter (Optional)
The life of the activated charcoal filter depends greatly upon the application. It is not
predictable and there is no way to monitor it. The filter must be changed whenever
gases or fumes reappear in the cleaned air. At the very least, the activated charcoal
filter should always be changed whenever the main filter is changed.
