FABRICATED UPPER MOUNTING BRACKETS
NOTE: Floor and walls of the truck body must
be straight & square to use fi ller plates
with the upper mounting brackets.
1. Position the RH and LH mounting brack-
ets (Kit items) inside the truck body, on the
fl oor (FIG. 13-1).
• Outer distance between LH and RH
brackets will be a little less than the
width of the rear opening of truck body.
There will be a small clearance be-
tween each bracket and wall of truck
body.
• Each mounting bracket fl ange must
face inboard to be bolted to the fl oor.
• Bottom of fl ange, for each bracket
must be fl ush with top of Liftgate
main frame housing.

To prevent damage, ensure truck battery
cables are disconnected before using electri-
cal welder. Put welder ground lead as close as
possible to part being welded.

Use protective cover on Liftgate and truck
body to protect from welding heat and spatter.
2. Position 1/4" fi ller plate between LH mount-
ing bracket and LH column (FIG. 13-1). Then,
stitch-weld fi ller plate to LH column and LH
bracket (FIG. 13-1). Repeat for RH bracket
and RH column.
3. Fit gusset (Kit item) at top of LH column and
fi ller plate (FIG. 13-1). Then, weld gusset
to LH column and fi ller plate (FIG. 13-1).
Repeat for RH column.
