5. Operating instruction

After connecting the PEEP valve to the equipment adjust the valve to the required
PEEP level by turning the cap.
Note: The cap is not designed to be unscrewed from the housing. When the cap is
turned counterclockwise towards the zero setting resistance is felt to prevent the cap
from being unscrewed by accident. It does, however, not prevent unscrewing of the
cap and once this is attempted, the locking ability is weakened.
For the adjustment of the PEEP 20 valve, a manometer should be connected to the
patient breathing for monitoring of the adjustment. For the PEEP 10 valve, the same
applies when using the PEEP 10 valve on infants (below 10 kg body weight).
5.1. Disposal of product
Used products must be disposed of according to local procedures.
6. Cleaning – disinfecting – sterilisation
The PEEP valve is exposed to expiratory gases. It should, according to local
disinfection instructions, be cleaned and desinfected after each patient. Before
cleaning, disassemble the three parts shown in section 4. No further disassembly
is necessary.
6.1. Cleaning of parts
Wash the parts in warm, soapy water, rinse thoroughly in tap water and let the parts
dry before reassembly.
An automatic washing machine for anaesthesia equipment may be used.
