PROCEDURE STEPS:
WARNING: To avoid serious or fatal injury on vehicles equipped with airbags, disable the Supplemental Restraint
System (SRS) before attempting any steering wheel, steering column, airbag, seat belt tensioner, impact sensor
or instrument panel component diagnosis or service. Disconnect and isolate the battery negative (ground) ca
ble, then wait two minutes for the system capacitor to discharge before performing further diagnosis or service.
This is the only sure way to disable the SRS. Failure to take the proper precautions could result in accidental
airbag deployment.
1. Disconnect the battery negative cable.
2. Place the headlamp switch (1) rotary knob (4) in the
OFF (O) position.
3. Push in on the rotary knob (4) and rotate clockwise to
retract the retainers (2) behind the I/P trim. The retain
ers (2) will be fully retracted before the switch points
to the park lamps ON position.
4. Pull the switch out of I/P trim to access and discon
nect the headlamp switch connector, and remove the
headlamp switch.
5. Connect the headlamp switch connector to the new
headlamp switch.
6. Position the new switch and press firmly and evenly
into the I/P trim until it is fully seated. Two light audi
ble clicks will indicate that the two retainers (2) have
seated.
