Commissioning
The compact module has 8 inputs and 2 outputs and can be operated in extended address mode
(A/B mode). Two slaves are integrated in the enclosure. Slave 1 is designed with 4 input terminals,
which can be connected directly to mechanical switches or to 2-wire and 3-wire sensors (PNP).
Slave 2 has terminals for 4 inputs and 2 outputs. Two of these inputs can be connected directly to
mechanical switches or to 2-wire and 3-wire sensors (PNP) and the other two to mechanical
switches or to 2-wire sensors (PNP), whereby the latter terminals are also assigned as outputs. For
the output circuits you require an external auxiliary power supply (AUX POWER) of 20 V to 30 V DC.
The auxiliary power supply should conform to VDE 0106 (PELV), class of protection III.

To be able to set the address, you require the following:
• the addressing device (Order No. 3RK1904-2AB00)
Valid addresses are 1 to 31, and it is also possible to assign a subaddress "A" or "B".
The subaddresses are accessible only to addressing devices (masters) according to AS-Interface
Specification V2.1. As supplied, the modules have subaddress "A"; they behave as standard
slaves when connected to addressing devices (masters) not according to AS-Interface Specifica-
tion V2.1.
Each address is only allowed to be used once per slave. Slave 2 cannot be addressed by means of
master calls and is therefore not active if slave 1 has address "0". The "AS-i" LED does not light up
when slave 1 is addressed.
After addressing has been completed, re-attach the screw plug to obtain degree of
protection IP67.
To start up the compact module, carry out the following steps:
Step
Procedure
1
Set the address if you want to carry out addressing prior to installation.
2
Insert the yellow AS-Interface cable and the black AS-Interface power cable into
the cable ducts on the mounting plate.
3
Engage the compact module in the mounting plate and secure with screws.
4
Set the address if you have not carried out step 1.
5
If necessary, connect the grounding strip to frame (PE).
6
You can connect up to 8 sensors and 2 actuators to the M12 sockets.
