EduTrainer Network and Security – Operating Instructions

8 Description

The Network and Security EduTrainer provides network devices for use in lab and teaching scenarios. A
Siemens SCALANSE S615 router and a Siemens SCALANCE XC208 switch are installed.
The devices are operated by connecting the network components with further Ethernet-capable devices
such as computers and industrial controllers via Ethernet cables.
In addition to connecting different networks the router also enables safety functions such as firewalls to be
applied and for encrypted connections to be used via the standards IPsec and OpenVPN.
Moreover, the router contains a range of network functions such as DHCP, DNS proxy, NTP proxy,
redundancy via VRRP, and more.
The XC208 switch is a manageable switch that enables VLANs to be defined, has redundancy mechanisms
such as RSTP, HRP and MRP, can provide DHCP functions, perform multi-port monitoring, and more.
