Requirements for the set-up location
For safe and trouble-free operation of the device, the set-up location must fulfil
the following requirements:

Place the device on a firm, flat and level surface.
■
Set up the device so that the ventilation openings and the left
speakers are not covered.
■
Do not operate the device in a hot, wet or extremely damp environment or
in the vicinity of flammable materials.
■
The mains power socket must be easily accessible so that the mains cable
can be easily pulled out in an emergency.
Setting up the device

Select a suitable location for the device (see also the section "Requirements
for the set-up location").

Completely remove all packaging material.
♦
Lift the CD compartment lid

Remove the protective film from the display
♦
Place the device on a firm, level surface.
♦
Do not subject the device to extreme heat or humidity.
♦
Ensure the device is sufficiently ventilated from all sides.

Completely unwind the wire aerial
Connecting the power supply
CAUTION

Before connecting the device, compare the connection data (voltage and
frequency) on the rating plate on the rear of the device with that of your
electric supply. This data must agree so that the device is not damaged.

Insert the plug of the mains cable
Inserting batteries
By inserting 2 x 1.5 V batteries (type AAA/Micro/LR3), you can prevent the
programmed time, saved radio stations and alarm times from being lost in the
event of a power failure. The batteries make sure that the internal clock continues
to run even during a power failure.

The device can also be operated without batteries. In this case, however, you
must reset the time, alarms and resave the radio stations after a power failure.
