C. Signal Connections.
To avoid electrical shock, do not connect wires with power applied.
1. Loosen the 2 screws that secure the cover to the housing. Gently pull the cover away from
the housing.
2. Insert the tone module or connector card in P2 (see figure 2 or 3).
3. Pass the connector card signal leads through the hole in the housing. Connect the 300CK
leads as described in the appropriate SelecTone Command manual. For the 300CK, refer to
Federal Signal Part No. 2561044 (Model 300VSC-1 SelecTone Command) or Federal Signal
Part No. 2561090 (Model 300SCW-1 SelecTone Command). For the 300CKS, refer to
Federal Signal Part No. 255A204 (Model 300SSC Supervised SelecTone Command). For
the AM25CK and AM70CK, refer to the instructions packed with each unit.
D. Power Connections.
The cover must be kept tight while the circuits are energized.
Audio wires should be sized properly by your licensed installation electrician for your service
application. This cable requires a twisted shielded pair with an 18AWG mimum and should
produce no more than 15% signal loss over the length of the cable run.
All power wiring to the Models 300GCX and 302GCX must be routed through conduit and
fittings approved for explosion-proof installations. Run electrical wiring from the power source
through the conduit to the signal following National Electrical Code recommendations for
explosion-proof installations.
On single unit installations, connect the power wiring through an on-off switch to the power
leads on the unit. An on-off switch is not used when the units are installed as part of a
SelecTone System.
E. Speaker Positioning.
Property damage, serious injury or death could occur if the speaker projector is mishandled
during installation or over time. DO NOT rotate the projector more than 180 degrees
All effective warning speakers produce loud sounds, which may cause, in certain situations,
permanent hearing loss. The device should be installed far enough away from potential
listeners to limit their exposure while still maintaining its effectiveness. The OSHA Code
of Federal Regulations 1910.95 Noise Standard provides guidelines which may be
The SelecTone is constructed to allow adjustment of the speaker projector to almost any
horizontal position. This repositioning of the speaker projector is accomplished by rotating the
speaker. To reposition the speaker projector, loosen the collar nut that secures the speaker
projector and rotate the projector to the desired position. Tighten the collar nut.
F. Volume Control.
The volume control is set to maximum at the factory. If the volume level is reduced,
be sure that the alarm signal is loud enough to adequately warn.
