WARNING!
It is imperative that the operating manual be read and observed when using the product.
The helmet is made for intended use only.
Helmets absorb the energy of a blow by partial destruction of, or damage to, the helmet. Even though
such damage may not be readily apparent, any helmet subjected to a severe impact should be replaced.
Do not modify or remove any of the original component parts of the product, if not recommended by
MSA.
Do not apply paint, stickers, cleaning products with a hydrocarbon base or solvents to the helmet or
visors to prevent damaging the materials.
Some conditions can exceed this helmet's capacity to protect against serious injury or death.
Never use this helmet as a vehicular or sports helmet.
Never store gloves, cigarettes, earplugs or similar objects between the suspension and the shell liner.
This space is needed when the shell/ suspension absorbs the energy of an impact.
Use only MSA supplied or approved accessories with this helmet.
The helmet must not be thrown, dropped or used as a support.
No harmful material was used. In case of allergic reaction, exit the danger zone and remove the PPE.
Eye and face protectors material that touches your skin can cause an allergic reaction to susceptible
individuals.
For the right selection of the eye protection always consult a safety supervisor.
Tinted over spectacles are not suitable for driving at night or in low light conditions.
Eye and face protectors worn over non-designated corrective frames may transmit impacts which may
damage the corrective eye wear thus creating a hazard to the user.
Service life of eye and face protectors depends on the conditions of use.
Check eye and face protectors marking to ensure that the protector is sufficient for the intended activity.
The eye and face protectors and arc flash earflaps only perform as expected in use position (low
position).
Any eye and face protectors that have been scratched, dropped or damaged must be replaced.
The eye and face protectors are designed exclusively for assembly on MSA V-Gard 900 helmet type.
The eye and face protectors could be damaged by some chemical substances.
If the symbols F, B, or A are not common to both the visor and the frame then it is the lower level which
shall be assigned to the complete eye protector.
Face shield complying with field of use symbol 8, must be equipped with a scale number 2-1,2 or 3-1,2
and must have a minimal thickness of 1.4 mm.
For a visor to comply with field of use symbol 9, both the visor and adapters must be marked with one of
the symbols F, B or A.
If protection from high-speed particles at extreme temperatures is necessary, make sure that your
protective equipment (oculars and face shield) shows the symbol T directly after the impact symbol (F,
B, or A). If the symbol T does not show after the impact symbol, the protective equipment can only be
used to supply protection from high-speed particles at room temperature.
The arc flash earflaps must not be worn in the up position if there is any risk of molten metal splashes.
The helmet and shell accessories (eye and face protectors excluded) can be used at temperatures up to
–30 °C.
Do not adjust arc flash earflaps in temperatures of –10 °C and below.
Protection can be reduced because of aging or inappropriate cleaning method, insulating is limited
depending on conditions of use.
Always check the markings on the face shields to confirm the level of protection against short electric
arc. Checking the markings on the frame alone is not sufficient.
Failure to follow these warnings can result in serious personal injury or death.
