Before Using the Tester
W
Before conducting any test, follow the safety
instructions. Before using the voltage tester, always
perform a function test.
W
Disconnect the voltage tester completely from any
measuring circuit first.
The "GS 38 protective cap"
before the tests. To do this, pull them forward off the test
probes.
W
The "GS 38 protective cap"
national regulations or directives.
Switching ON / OFF the Tester / Auto Power OFF:
12
By activating the push button
be switched ON without applying any voltage to the test
probes. The torch light is now ON and the tester is also
ready to test continuity (for 2100-Beta and 2100-Gamma,
the LCD screen is also ON and shows "---").
If no voltage is applied to the test probes and no
continuity is detected, the voltage tester and torch light
automatically switches OFF after approx. 30 seconds.
The voltage tester can be switched OFF manually by
pressing the push button
12
for 5 seconds.
Function Test/Self-Test:
• Switch ON voltage tester by shorting test probes
2
,
while unit is OFF. All LEDs, torch light, buzzer
and all symbols on LCD and backlight (2120-Beta /
2120-Gamma) shall be on for approx. one second.
Alternative the voltage tester could be also switched
on by pushing the button 12.
If the Low Battery LED
18
batteries must be changed.
If the battery symbol is indicated on the display, the
batteries must be changed (2100-Beta/2100-Gamma).
• Before and after use, always test the voltage tester on
a known voltage source or on a proving unit.
W
The voltage tester must be no longer used if one or
more functions fail or if no functionality is indicated.
W
Remove discharged batteries immediately from the
voltage tester to prevent any leaks.
The single-pole phase test LED
without batteries at voltages > 50 V AC/DC.
W
CAUTION: All other indications will not work without
or discharged batteries.
The voltage tester 2100 series feature a switchable
load which trips a 10 mA or 30 mA RCD (earth leakage
circuit breaker). For voltage tests (L against PE) in systems
with RCD (earth leakage circuit breaker), the RCD (earth
leakage circuit breaker) can be tripped when two push
buttons
11
are activated simultaneously.
Voltage Test (two pole)
The following AC/DC voltage steps can be displayed
without activating the two push buttons: 12V, 24V, 50 V,
120 V, 230 V, 400V, 690 V.
When both push buttons
11
are activated, a lower internal
resistance is switched ON to suppress inductive and
capacitive voltages (load test).
The duration of the test with lower internal resistance
(load test) depends on the level of the voltage to be
measured.
