Install the SIM card, battery, and optional miniSD card
Your Nokia E62 uses a SIM card that provides access to your wireless service.
A SIM card allows you to switch between phones and keep your phone number and
your phone book with you. The Nokia E62 also provides a slot for an optional miniSD
card for memory expansion. The miniSD card (if included) can store applications,
presentations, music files, and more.
Insert the SIM card
1. With the back of the device facing you, hold down the cover release button (fig. 1.1a)
and slide the battery cover in the direction shown (fig. 1.1b).
2. Slide the SIM card into position with the metal contacts facing down and the
beveled edge pointing toward the bottom of the device (fig. 1.2).
Insert the battery
1. Insert the battery by aligning the contacts of the battery with the corresponding
connectors on the battery compartment (fig. 1.3).
2. Replace the battery cover.
3. Charge the battery by connecting the
Nokia charger to a standard wall outlet,
and connect the charger to the bottom
of your device.
Insert the miniSD memory card (optional)
If the miniSD card is not included in-box, it can
be purchased separately.
1. If the back cover is on the device, remove it as shown in fig. 1.1.
2. Insert the miniSD card into the memory card slot with the metal contacts facing
down and the beveled edge pointing toward the top of the device (fig. 1.4).
3. You will hear a click when the card is fully seated in the memory slot.

Get familiar with your device
The Nokia E62 is the perfect mobile solution for taking your business with you
when you're on the go. Take a moment to get familiar with the keys.
1. Power key
Press and hold this button to switch your device on and off.
Press this button once to switch between profiles.
2. Email LED
Light notifies you of a new email message.
3. Device display
4. Volume up/down keys
5. Voice key
Press quickly to access the voice recorder. Press and hold
to activate enhanced voice commands.
6. Left and right selection keys
7. Menu key
Opens the main menu, giving you access to all applications.
8. Email key
Opens your default email inbox. Press and hold to begin
composing a new email. (Note: Functionality may vary
based on your email service provider.)
9. Joystick
Move up, down, left, or right to navigate. Press to select.
10. Call key

Learn the keys
Text entry is easy within applications like SMS, Notepad, and email. Simply press any letter key on the
full messaging keyboard (QWERTY) to type the letter. Press the space key (

Function key
: Use to enter special characters and functions like &, !, or %, printed at the top
of the keys. Press and release this key, then press the key with the desired character or function.
Tip! Function Lock – Press the function key (
printed at the top of the keys. Press again to release it.

Shift key
: Use to capitalize letters. Press and release, then press a letter key to capitalize
that letter.
Tip! Press the shift key twice to turn on caps lock and enter only capital letters. Press again to
release it.

Control key
: Use with common keyboard shortcuts, such as Ctrl+C to copy text and Ctrl+V to
paste text.

Character key
: Use to select and enter
special characters not found on the keypad.
Press and release the Chr key (
the table of special characters.
Use the joystick to navigate to the desired
character, and press the joystick to select the
highlighted character.
Tip! To enter accent marks on letters, press
and hold the Chr key (
the letter key repeatedly until the special
character appears.
