vent any food remaining on the surface from encrusting.
• Do not use a steam cleaning or water jet device to clean the appliance, as
this could cause a short circuit.
• The hard chromium plated grilling surface will show signs of wear over time.
This, however, does not affect the quality of the appliance's performance.
• Only original fittings produced by the manufacturer may be used in order
to ensure safe operation of this hob.
Initial Cleaning and Start-Up
Please heed the instructions in the chapter "Cleaning and Maintenance"
(pg. 13).
Before heating up the oven for the first time:
• Clean the appliance with a damp cloth and then wipe the surfaces dry. This
will prevent any dirt that may be on the hob from getting burning on.
• Heat up the appliance for a few minutes to 260°C.
• Any odour or steam will disappear quickly and do not indicate an incorrect
connection or fault in the appliance.
Using the appliance
• Please note the safety instructions on page 11!
• The glass ceramic edge is very robust and can easily withstand light to me-
dium impact and load on the surface. However, avoid any punctual impacts,
such as, e.g. dropping spice jars or bottles on the hob.
• If damage to the glass ceramic frame occurs, such as cracks, chipping or
breakage, switch off the appliance immediately and call customer service.
Further use of the appliance can lead to damage in the appliance, caused
by fat that has burst out, for example.
Switching on and setting the grill zones
The grilling surface is divided into two front and rear grill zones. These grill zo-
nes can be used separately or simultaneously. Each grill zone has its own con-
trol knob. The symbols next to the knobs indicate which grill zone that particular
knob controls.
Example: Knob for the rear grill zone
The cooking temperatures are displayed around the control knobs. The follo-
wing symbol is also beside the control knob:
Keep warm function (approx. 70°C)
– Set the desired cooking temperature by
turning the switch.
– The appliance heats up. The heating-up indi-
cator is illuminated during the heating-up
.
process.
– As soon as the desired cooking temperature is reached, the heating-up in-
dicator goes off.
– Lubricate the grilling surface evenly with a little oil or fat. Use the spatula
provided or a heat-resistant brush (e.g. silicone brush) to distribute the oil
or fat.
– Place the food directly on the grilling surface.
– Use the spatula provided to turn the food.
– Do not hit the grilling surface with the spatula, as this could dent the sur-
face.
Switching Off the Cooking Zone
– Turn the control knob to the "0" setting to switch the grill zone off.
– The residual heat indicator stays illuminated until the appliance has cooled
down enough for there to be no danger of burns.
Warning - hot surface can cause burns. Only touch the appliance after
the residual heat indicator has gone out.

Tips for grilling, frying and braising
• Do not place the food on the grilling surface until the heating-up indicator
has gone off.
• When placing the food on the grilling surface, bear in mind that the grill
zone is hotter in the centre than at the edge. If the food items you are coo-
king have different cooking times, place the food that has a shorter cooking
time towards the edge of the zone.
• Ensure that pieces of meat do not touch each other when cooking and only
turn them once they can easily be lifted from the surface. Otherwise, fibres
will be destroyed which can lead to moisture escaping and cause the meat
to dry out.
• Do not pierce or cut the meat while cooking to prevent juices escaping.
• Only salt the meat after it has been cooked, otherwise it will lose water and
soluble nutrients.
• When frying, only use oils and fats which can be heated to a high tempera-
ture and are suitable for frying (e.g. clarified butter or refined vegetable
oils). Note that virgin olive oil or margarine can only be used for cooking
temperatures up to 160°C.
• To prevent food items you are cooking from encrusting, remove anything
which could become encrusted with the spatula while cooking. You should
apply a little oil or fat to the grilling surface beforehand to prevent such
foodstuffs encrusting.
