3. Tighten the 3 bolts threaded into the holes provided in the clutch end plate. Thread the arbor through the disc until it is pushing against the end of the compressor clutch output
shaft. See Figure g. Tighten the 3 bolts alternately and evenly until snug. Turn the hex on the arbor until the clutch end plate is pulled off of the clutch assembly. See Figure h.
Remove A/C clutch assembly snap rings and lift clutch assembly off of compressor.
4. To install, reverse removal procedures. Make sure to align and install clutch shaft key when
installing clutch end plate. See Figure i. Press clutch end plate down on output shaft until
clutch retaining nut can be installed. Tighten nut to pull clutch end plate into position.
Delphi/Harrison
Procedures for Delphi/Harrison compressors are similar to those for other manufacturers, and can
generally be followed for Mitsubishi, Zexel, and Tecumseh, and others.
1. Remove the clutch retaining nut. See Figure o. Install the remover tool to the clutch end plate by
threading the outer body of the tool into the hole in the center of the clutch end plate.
2. Thread the inner arbor through the body of the tool. Turn the hex on the pushrod while holding
the outer body stationary. Turn pushrod until the clutch end plate is pulled off of the clutch
assembly. Remove A/C clutch assembly snap rings and lift clutch assembly off of compressor.
See figure p.
3. To install, ensure clutch shaft key is installed. Press clutch end plate down on output shaft.
4. Assemble clutch installer and install with threads on the inner diameter of arbor engaged with
threads on the outer diameter of clutch output shaft. The bearing should be against clutch end
plate. See Figure t.
5. Hold body of tool stationary with wrench and turn inner arbor with a ratchet. This will draw the
clutch end plate onto the output shaft. See figure t. Install and tighten clutch retaining nut to
complete assembly procedure. See figure u.
