Gently Striking Steel Tabs in the Loosen Direction Until Fuel Pump Lock Ring is Free From Tank. (Refer to Service Manual to Determine Correct Thread Position for Removal as this is Vehicle Specific, LH or RH Threads)
15. (For Applications with Plastic Lock Ring) Begin Removal of the Fuel Pump By Locating the Lock Ring. Mark the Location of the Lock Ring on the Ring and the Tank to Ensure Correct Re-Assembly of the New Fuel Pump. Open the Spanner to the Correct Size in Order to Fit the Large Tabs on the Plastic Lock
Ring and Tighten the 2 Bolts on the Top of the Wrench Before Use. Place 3/8" Drive Ratchet into the Top of the Spanner Wrench and Begin to Loosen Until Fuel Pump Lock Ring is Free From Tank. (Refer to Service Manual to Determine Correct Thread Position for Removal as this is Vehicle Specific, LH or RH
Threads)
16. With a Hand Operated Syphon Pump Remove Fuel From Fuel Pump Reservoir Taking Care Not to Spill. Remove Fuel Pump, Fuel Pump Lock Ring and Seal or O-Ring or From Fuel Tank.
17. Thoroughly Inspect Fuel tank For Rust, Dirt or Debris, If Any Rust, Dirt or Debris is Present Inside Fuel Tank, Fuel Tank Should be Cleaned Properly By a Qualified Fuel Tank Restoration Service Center Prior to Installing new Fuel Pump.
• For Fuel Tanks Made From Metal:
if Rust is Present: It is Recommended That the Fuel Tank be Replaced.
If Dirt and Debris is Present Fuel Tank Should be Cleaned and Dried Prior to Re-Installation.
• For Fuel Tanks Made From Plastic: Always Clean Fuel Tank Thoroughly Prior to Installing New Fuel Pump
