1. Partially remove rear bottom appearance panel - Use T10 torxbit to remove (2) plastic screws (with clips) from front end of rear bottom appearance panel.
Use T25 torxbit to remove (12) screws from front end of rear bottom appearance panel.
2. Loosen wheel well liner – Use T25 torxbit to remove (4) screws from the driver side wheel well liner. Repeat this process for passenger side.
3. Loosen wheel well trim – Using plastic trim tools partially remove wheel well trim from driver side. Gently pull the wheel well liner back. Use T20 torxbit to
remove (2) screws from fascia connection point. Repeat steps for passenger side.
4. Remove taillight cover – Using plastic trim tools remove the plastic taillight cover from the driver side. Using T20 torxbit remove (1) screw below the cover
that was removed. Repeat these steps for passenger side.
5. Fascia removal - Using T20 torxbit remove (2) screws from center of fascia. Use plastic trim tools to remove the fascia starting at the outer edges near the
wheel wells and gently pull the fascia. Disconnect wiring harness on passenger side if present. Carefully set the fascia aside for reinstallation.
6. Install hitch – Use 15 mm socket to remove (6) M8 bolts from bumper beam. NOTE: Do not complete remove bumper beam. Starting with the driver side,
raise the hitch into position, on top of impact bar structure, and loosely tighten M8 bolts provided in fastener kit. Tighten all fasteners with torque wrench
to 20 Lb.-Ft. (27 N*M). See Figure 1.
Proper torque is needed to keep the hitch secure to the vehicle when towing.
7. Trim fascia – Using a tape measure, marker, and utility knife, cut a 1.0"x6.5" notch in the bottom of fascia. See Figure 2. Note: Be sure area is clear of all
electrical wiring before trimming. NOTE: Trim begins on left side of existing opening in fascia.
8. Reinstall the wiring harness, fascia, fasteners, wheel trims and bottom appearance panel removed in Step 1-5.
Note: check hitch frequently, making sure all fasteners and ball are properly tightened. If hitch is removed, plug all holes in trunk pan or other body panels to prevent entry of water and exhaust fumes. A hitch or ball which has been damaged should be
removed and replaced. Observe safety precautions when working beneath a vehicle and wear eye protection. Do not cut access or attachment holes with a torch. This product complies with safety specifications and requirements for connecting devices
and towing systems of the state of New York, V.E.S.C. Regulation V-5 and SAE J684.
