APPLICATION
Attention: secure the open timing chain housing against parts falling down unintentionally using a
clean cloth. Parts that have fallen into the timing chain shaft must be removed otherwise this may lead
to engine damage.
SEPARATING THE TIMING CHAIN
Exemplary photo: Simplex timing chain (A)
Select the chain separating tool (17) and matching the diameter of
timing chain pin (B), mount one of the two following cutting spindles.
Separating spindle for 4 mm chain pin (18)
Separating spindle for 3 mm chain pin (19)
Position the chain separating tool (17) on the timing chain as shown
and pre-tension the tool.
Press out the two chain pins one after another by tensioning the
separating spindle.
THREADING IN THE TIMING CHAIN
For assembling the chain, select a matching assembly link and corresponding locking clip.
Assembly link (2) for Simplex chain with 4 mm chain pin
Assembly link (3) for Duplex chain with 4 mm chain pin
Locking clip & plate (4) for 4 mm assembly link
Assembly link (5) for Simplex chain with 3 mm chain pin
Assembly link (6) for Duplex chain with 3 mm chain pin
Locking clip & plate (7) for 3 mm assembly link
Join the new timing chain with the old timing chain; for this purpose, use the assembly link previously
selected. Pull the new timing chain into the control housing with the old timing chain.
