CHAPTER 5
MAINTENANCE AND TROUBLESHOOTING
In ordinary conditions, PENTAIR FLOTEC VIPVORT series electropumps do not require any maintenance.
It may be necessary to clean the hydraulics or replace the impeller.
DANGER - ELECTRIC SHOCK RISK
Make sure the machine is disconnected from electric power supply, before performing mainte-
nance operation.
HYDRAULICS CLEANING VIP (SEE FIG. 3, FIG. 4, FIG. 5, FIG. 6)
Disassembly of the filter cap: disassemble the filter cap only after removing the safety screw (See Fig. 3, pos. 6).
Keep the pump motionless and turn the filter cap clockwise looking at the pump from the bottom. To assemble the
filter cap, turn it counterclockwise (see Fig. 4).
If the filter cap is fixed on the base with screws, turn the pump clockwise in the direction of the handle to disassem-
ble it (See Fig. 5).
DISASSEMBLY OF THE DIFFUSER FILTER VIP
Disassembly of the diffuser filter: disassemble the diffuser filter only after removing the safety screw (See Fig. 3,
pos. 5).
Keep the pump motionless and turn the diffuser filter clockwise looking at the pump from the bottom. To reassem-
ble the diffuser filter, lubricate the O-ring with water and turn the filter counterclockwise (see Fig. 6).
PUMP STORAGE INSTRUCTIONS
Store the pump in a dry place and protect it from frost.
PROBLEM
THE ELECTROPUMP DOES NOT
PUMP WATER, THE MOTOR DOES
NOT RUN
THE PUMP DOES NOT SUPPLY
WATER BUT THE MOTOR IS
RUNNING
THE PUMP SUPPLIES A LIMITED
AMOUNT OF WATER
INTERMITTENT OPERATION
POSSIBLE CAUSE
1) No electricity.
2) Plug inserted incorrectly.
3) Enabled safety switch.
4) Blocked impeller.
5) Damaged motor or con-
denser.
1) Obstructed suction grid.
2) Blocked check valve.
3) Air in impeller body (air
bubbles).
1) Partially obstructed suction
grid.
2) Obstructed pipe.
3) Worn impeller.
1) Solid particles prevent the
free rotation of the impeller.
2) The temperature of the fluid
is too high.
3) Voltage out of range.
4) The fluid is too dense.
5) Faulty motor
REMEDY
2) Verify that voltage is present and that the plug is correctly inserted.
3) Reset the safety switch. If the safety switch is once more enabled,
contact a specialised electrician.
4) Remove possible obstructions from the impeller.
5) Contact the Customer Assistance Service.
1) Clean the grid.
2) Clean or replace the valve.
3) Perform several start-ups in order to remove all the air.
1) Clean the grid.
2) Remove the obstructions
3) Contact the Customer Assistance Service.
1) Remove the foreign particles.
