LAUS MIX
Glossy or decorative chrome is made up of thin layers of Cr
in order to improve and protect the fi nal aspect of the item to be chromed.
The chrome elements of this product have a high quality, and exceed strict technical controls such as the Control of applied chrome
thickness, chemical attacks, accelerated aging by salt spray test, aging accelerated by acetic acid spray test...
However, if regular care is not kept and a series of maintenance considerations are not taken into account, the product can be
permanently affected by unrepairable defects.
When cleaning chrome we should be aware that, despite its hardness, it is sensitive to micro-scratches and wear-out, thus losing
brightness, and we should therefore never use scouring pads or abrasive sponges. With regard to the cleaning products to use, never
use abrasive powders, or acids such as alcohol, bleach, ammonia, acetone, or disinfectants; if we want to keep our chrome product
well-polished for years, we will have to take care of the following aspects:
Daily, or at the end of each normal use, we recommend cleaning the chrome lightly, simply by wetting it with water and
1
then drying it, thus avoiding that the water drops leave marks when they dry and these can subsequently affect the chrome.
In the case there are lime accumulations from not having done the previous point regularly, and in order to avoid them
2
from getting larger, we recommend washing the chrome with a warm water and vinegar solution or (neutral) liquid soap
diluted in water, and drying with a soft cloth or chamois.
3
We recommend a weekly or biweekly cleaning in order to avoid that these marks become increasingly larger.
4
Gases from drains and traps. The traps installed in the drains protect against gases coming from the sewers. These gases,
apart from being odor-causing, contain corrosive and harmful agents such as hydrogen sulfi de, ammonia, methane, sulfur
dioxide, nitrous oxide, and carbon dioxide.
We should bear in mind that if the shower or basin is not regularly used and the trap dries up, these gases will enter the
bathroom and can cause corrosion which is impossible to recover. This type of corrosion usually takes place in second
homes, guest bathrooms, or whenever there is not a regular use.
In order to avoid this type of corrosion we recommend: always keep the bathroom ventilated, leaving doors half-open, or
have some type of ventilation. Watch that traps always have water, that they are installed correctly, and that they do not
have any anomalies. If the house is not going to be lived-in for long periods of time, cover or seal the drains. Ask your
plumber or professional the best way to carry out this operation.
Coastal areas. Those products that are installed in coastal areas or areas with high salt concentration should follow points
5
1, 2, 3, and 4 more rigorously. The saltpeter that collects on the chrome, even if it is imperceptible, can end up causing
permanent corrosion dots if regular cleanings are not carried out. Marine environment is an accelerator of material aging,
and therefore we shall have to take special care in order to avoid corrosion/oxidation.
Hard water with high concentration of lime. We recommend the use of descalers in the house in order to prevent lime
6
deposition. If you do not have them, you should follow points 1, 2 and 3 more rigorously.
Water with acid pH or containing impurities coming from old pipes. In this case if the impurities come from outside of our
7
home, we recommend installing fi lters and following points 1 and 3 rigorously.
It is not permitted to clean the chrome with a steam cleaner; high temperatures may end up ruining the gloss and damaging
8
the chrome hardness.
Failure to follow these points and suggestions may lead to the cancellation of the product warranty.
