5 Operation without DMX Controller
GB
Via the operating elements (5) – (7) on the rear side,
the spotlight can be ad justed to 4 different operating
modes:
– music-controlled change of colour
– automatic change of colour
– automatic colour fading
– manual colour adjustment
5.1 Music-controlled or
automatic change of colour
1) Set all DIP switches (6) to the off position:
Œ
music-controlled or automatic change of colour
2) For music-controlled change of colour, set the
switch AUTO/MUSIC (5) to the position MUSIC.
When music with notable rhythm in the bass range
is played at a sufficient volume, the spotlight, con-
trolled via an internal microphone, will change its
colour to the beat of the music.
For automatic change of colour, set the switch
AUTO/MUSIC to the position AUTO and adjust the
speed for the change of colour with the control
SPEED (7).
5.2 Automatic colour fading
Set the DIP switch 8 to ON and the DIP switch 7 to the
off position.
With the DIP switches 1 – 6, select the speed for
colour fading (the lower the switch number, the faster
the fading): Set the corresponding DIP switch 1 – 6 to
ON, the other five DIP switches to the off position.

automatic colour fading at the lowest fading speed
5.3 Manual colour adjustment
Set the DIP switches 7 and 8 to ON.
With the other DIP switches, select the LEDs for red
(switches 1 and 2), green (switches 3 and 4), and blue
(switches 5 and 6) separately and adjust their bright -
ness – see fig. 3 below.
R = red, G = green, B = blue
Ž
Example for manual colour adjustment:
red LEDs
with 100 % brightness,
green LEDs with 25 % brightness,
blue LEDs
with 50 % brightness

6 DMX Control

For operation via a light controller with DMX512 proto-
col (e. g. DMX-1440 or DMX-120 by "img Stage Line"),
the spotlight is equipped with 5 control channels. The
functions of these channels and the DMX values can
be found in chapter 7.1.
6.1 Connection
As a DMX interface, the spotlight is pro vided with
3-pole XLR connections with the following pin configu-
ration:
1 = ground, 2 = DMX-, 3 = DMX+
For connection, special cables for high data flow should
be used. The use of standard microphone cables
can only be recommended for a total cable length of
up to 100 m. The best transmission re sults are obtained
with screened microphone cables of 2 × 0.25 mm
special data transmission cables. For cable lengths
exceeding 150 m it is recommended to insert a DMX
level matching amplifier (e. g. SR-103DMX from "img
Stage Line").
1) Connect the input DMX IN (9) to the DMX output of
the light controller.
2) Connect the output DMX OUT (8) to the DMX input
of the next unit con trolled by DMX. Connect its out-
put again to the input of the following unit, etc. until
all units to be controlled have been connected.
The jack has a latch ing. To remove the plug, press
the PUSH lever.
3) Terminate the DMX output of the last unit controlled
by DMX in the chain with a 120 Ω resistor (> 0.3 W):
Solder the resistor to the pins 2 and 3 of an XLR
plug and connect the plug to the DMX output or use
a corresponding terminating plug (e. g. DLT-123
from "img Stage Line").
6.2 Adjustments on the spotlight
1) Set the switch AUTO/MUSIC (5) to the position
MUSIC.
2) Via the DIP switches 1 – 7 (6), adjust the start
address (i. e. the address provided for control of the
first channel of the spotlight) as a binary number.
Set the DIP switch 8 to the off position.
The start address will result from adding the
place values of the DIP switches set to ON, e. g.
← DIP switch numbers
← place values

DMX start address 1: switch No. 1 set to ON
← DIP switch numbers
← place values

DMX start address 13 (= 8 + 4 + 1):
switches No. 4, No. 3, and No. 1 set to ON
Always start from the highest possible place value
and add the lower values in descending order.
