Earthing of the antenna system
The DIN bar, where the unit will be installed, must be connected to the earth electrode of the antenna system, in accordance
with standard EN5008-1, section 10. It is recommended to follow the provisions of EN 5008-1 and not to connect the DIN
bar to the protective earth (PE) of the supply mains.
IMPORTANT: Only instructed and authorised persons can open the product. In case of failure, do not try to repair the
product, otherwise the guarantee will no longer be valid.
The following is contained in the packaging:
•
1 KDF receiver
•
1 RJ45 connector to connect the receiver to the programmer. After programming the module, we recommend the RJ45
connector is left connected to avoid the build up of dust or other particles.
The unit must be installed by attaching it to the DIN bar by pulling down the clip placed on the back of the receiver as shown
in fig. 1.
The KDF receiver must be powered by connecting the red power cable situated on the upper side of the unit to a power
supply able to deliver a voltage of 1V DC (for example a KP5). When used in cascade, it is possible to get power from the
red socket on the upper side of another KDF receiver using the red power cable.
When the product is correctly powered, the green LED on the front is on.
Fig. shows the 4 connectors:
•
SAT IN: Connect a SAT signal from an LNB with an H/V output or as an alternative, the self-demixed output (SAT OUT)
of another KDF receiver can be connected via a KRF15 jumper.
•
MIX IN: This input can be connected to the output of the converted signal (OUT) coming from another KDF receiver
through a KRF15 jumper or, as an alternative, it can be terminated using a 75 Ohm load.
•
SAT OUT: This output can be connected to the SAT IN input of another KDF receiver or, as an alternative, it can be
terminated using a 75 Ohm load.
•
OUT: Output of the converted signal. This output can be connected to the MIX IN input of another KDF receiver via a
KRF15 jumper. With the trimmer situated on the front of the KDF receiver, the RF output level can be regulated.
When KDF receivers are used in cascade, we recommend programming the KDF receivers closest to the output on the
highest frequencies in order to obtain an equalised signal on the output from the series.
The programming of the KDF receiver should be carried out using a TPE programmer by connecting it to the receiver's RJ45
outlet.
