1 - GENERAL WARNINGS AND PRECAUTIONS

• The installation must be done by a qualified technician, in compliance with the
law, electrical regulations and established safety standards; so that, for reasons of
personal safety, read and keep these instructions for future reference. • This manual
contains important safety information; improper installations can be dangerous. •
Reading only part of these instructions will not enable the user to make best use
of the product. • Replace damaged bulbs as soon as possible. • Do not install the
dimmer close to other sources of heat; if two or more dimmers are to be installed in
a single electrical enclosure, space them by at least the width of a module. The heat
dissipation of the dimmer is proportional to the power load it is controlling. • Never
install a switch/breaker between the dimmer and its load: the lamp must be con-
nected directly to the dimmer.

2 - PRODUCT DESCRIPTION AND INTENDED USE

The TTDMD is a dimmer used to switch on and off and adjust the brightness of
lamps of various types (incandescent, fluorescent, led, etc.), powered by the mains.
Any other use is improper and prohibited.
The dimmer has an integral radio receiver operating at 433.92 MHz, with "rolling
code" encoding. A single dimmer may store up to 30 transmitters (for compatible
models, refer to Chapter 5); each transmitter may be memorized in "Mode I" or
"Mode II", which give different behaviours (see Chapter 6). The dimmer can be con-
nected to an external button for switching on and off and adjusting the brightness of
the lamp. The dimmer is programmed with a radio transmitter memorized in Mode
I and with the button on the dimmer itself (or an external button). The programming
procedures are guided by the flashing of the dimmer's led.

3 - ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS

3.1 - Warnings!
• The dimmer and the lamps, including all connections, may be installed only by a
qualified technician, in accordance with these instructions and local standards and
legislation.
• The dimmer is subject to hazardous voltage. Therefore, only open the dim-
mer's housing or any connections with the power switched off.
• Never cut the antenna cable: it is subject to hazardous voltage.
• The dimmer should preferably be installed in a DIN rail enclosure for electrical modules.

• Make the connections exactly as specified. Incorrect connections can cause mal-
function and danger.
• In conformity with electrical regulations, install an electrical disconnection unit on
the power line to completely cut off mains power under overvoltage category III
conditions. The disconnection unit is not supplied with the product.
3.2 - Description of basic connections
Connect the dimmer as shown in fig. 1. It must be connected to 220-240 V AC
mains power, using terminals 8 (phase "L") and 9 (neutral "N"). An NO external button
can be connected between terminals 7 (button "P") and 9 (neutral "N"). These carry
the mains voltage.
The dimmer is equipped with a DALI bus interface (terminals 1 and 2, not polarised).
The DALI bus cable must be as follows:

N.B. – Pay special attention to disturbances on the downline neutral.
3.3 - Connecting the lamps and limits of use
The dimmer may be connected to a variety of types of lamp, all with input power
230V AC ±10%, 50Hz. The lamps may be incandescent, halogen, led or fluorescent
(led and fluorescent lamps must be expressly declared to be compatible with dim-
mers by the manufacturer). If any electronic or toroidal transformers are present, they
must be expressly declared compatible with dimmers by the manufacturer.
The lighting load controlled by the dimmer must be connected to terminals 10 (neu-
tral "N") and 11 (downline phase "
to terminals 10 and 11 is possible, but is not recommended. In general, observe the
following warnings.
• Do not connect more than 3 lamps to a single dimmer.
• All lamps connected to terminals 10 and 11 must be of the same type. Mixing led
and fluorescent lamps – or even lamps of different makes or models – may cause
the dimmer to malfunction or even fail.
• Using the dimmer to adjust the brightness of fluorescent and led lamps may signifi-
cantly reduce the controlled power. This depends largely on the electronics used in
the lamps themselves. When using such lamps, you must test the operation of the
dimmer in each case; if in doubt, contact the dimmer's manufacturer.
