3.3) Flexible hose
The fl exible hose is designed for high-pressure operation and should not be tightly bent, knotted,
kinked or squashed.
Take care when storing the pump in the steel case, the hose should be coiled in wide loops.
High pressure fl exible hoses are subject to a natural ageing process which can result in a
reduction in performance potentially aff ecting safety of the operator. As a result their life span is
limited. In order to ensure safe use of their units, Cembre recommends replacing the hose within
10 years from the date printed on the fi ttings.
Before using the pump always check the integrity of the fl exible hose and the quick couplers
making sure there are no abrasions, cuts, deformations or swellings.
5. MAINTENANCE
Regular routine maintenance should be carried out as follows:
– Lubricate pivot pins (16) of the pedal (09) with drops of oil, to avoid seizure after intensive use.
– Check oil level in the reservoir (10) (at least every 6 months) and top up if necessary (ref. to point 5.1).
– Eliminate air bubbles or residues inside the hydraulic circuit (as described in point 5.2).
Non-routine maintenance may be:
– To replace the high pressure hose (refer to point 5.3).
5.1) Oil top up
(Ref. to Fig. 7)
– Raise the end of the pump to help air expulsion and to ease fi lling the reservoir.
– Release the pedal (09) from the latch (11) to more easily reach the reservoir cap (14).
– Unscrew the reservoir cap and top up the oil level until the hole is reached.
– Replace the cap (14).
Always use clean recommended oil, see § 1.
Do not use old or recycled oil.
Do not use hydraulic brake fl uid.
Ensure that disposal of used oil is in accordance with current
legislation.
5.2) Purge air bubbles or residues
To purge air from the system proceed as follows:
– Keep the foot pump in a horizontal position at one metre above the connected head.
– Remove the reservoir cap (14).
– Operate the pedal (09) until dies or blades are almost closed.
– Release the oil pressure by pressing the pressure release pedal (31).
– Repeat this operation at least 10 times.
– Fit and retighten the reservoir cap (14).
