Problem
False signals

Possible Causes
• Electromagnetic interference (EMI)
• Extreme humidity
• Sensitivity set too high
• Sweeping too fast or wrong angle
• Multiple metal detectors used in
close proximity
• Multiple targets
• Highly mineralized soil
• Sensitivity set too low
• Target-ID is filtered out
• Search coil at wrong angle
• Flat battery
• Disconnected search coil cable

Solutions
• Move to a different search area
• Reduce sensitivity
• Sweep slowly, keeping the coil level and
1 – 2 inches (2.5 – 5 cm) from the ground
• Keep metal detectors at least 20 ft. (6 m)
apart
• Reduce sensitivity
• Move to a different search area
• Increase sensitivity
• Re-enable that target-ID in DISC mode
• Adjust search coil to be parallel with
the ground
• Charge the battery
• Reconnect the search coil cable plug
into the DIN connector
