Note on Adding Refrigerant
Some systems require an additional load, depending on the length of the tubes. Standard pipe length
varies according to local regulations. For example, in North America, the standard tube length is 7.5 m
(25 ft). In other areas, the standard pipe length is 5 m (16 '). Refrigerant should be charged from the
service port on the low pressure valve of the outdoor unit. The additional refrigerant to be charged
can be calculated using the following formula:

• This unit contains factory-charged refrigerant that covers 20 m of refrigerant piping and no
additional refrigerant charge is required at the installation site for an installation with refrigerant
piping up to 20 m. When the refrigerant piping exceeds 20 m, additionally charge an amount
calculated from the piping length and the table above for the portion exceeding 20 m.
• If an existing piping system is used, the required refrigerant charge volume will vary depending on
the size of the liquid piping.
• Formula for calculating the required additional refrigerant volume:
• Additional Loading Volume (kg) = {Main Length (m) - Factory Loaded Volume 20 (m)} × 0.03 (kg / m)
• Make sure to remove the amount of extra refrigerant according to the nameplate nominal charge
(refrigerant pipe less than 5m) based on government or market verification tests.
