EIB 749: Connecting a remote reset button
An external remote reset button can be connected to the
connection for an external remote reset switch.
When connecting the button, ensure that the
position of the slot is correct.
For information on the location of the connections, see
"Rear panel", page 26.
For the pin layout of the connection for an external remote
reset switch, see "R".
The remote reset input signals (Remote-Reset
+, Remote-Reset –) are galvanically isolated from
the ground potential at the encoder and trigger
connections.

Operation
CAUTION
Danger of damage to persons or equipment if memory
areas are not adapted.
The EnDat interface offers the possibility of storing
machine-specific or equipment-specific information in the
customer's memory area. The data may comprise safety-
relevant information.
If servicing becomes necessary, you need to ensure
that memory areas containing machine-specific or
equipment-specific information are adapted.
5.1
Switch-on / Switch-off
CAUTION
Danger of damage to persons or equipment by electrical
shock.
The product must not be operated if power cord,
power supply unit or connections are damaged!
Switch-on
EIB 741 and EIB 749: Set the power switch to position I.
For information on the location of the power switch, see
"Rear panel", page 26.
EIB 742: Connect the power supply unit with connection
X6 and switch it on. The product requires the firmware
version 8 or higher. For information on reading out the
firmware version, see the User's Manual for Application
Development.
After the product has been switched on, it boots the most
recently stored firmware. This is the firmware version
that was loaded during the most recent update. Since
the network parameters can be changed, the settings
programmed most recently are used after switch-on. You
press the reset button in order to start specialized loading
of the firmware. For more information, see "Reset modes
supported by the product", page 32.
Switch-off
EIB 741 and EIB 749: Set the power switch to position
0. Then disconnect the power cable.
The product can be disconnected from power
only by disengaging its cable.
EIB 742: Switch off the power supply unit or disconnect
the cable from connection X6.
