1 .3 Supplemental Directives

To reduce the risk of accidents and injuries, please
observe the following directives before proceeding to
operate this appliance:
• Read and follow all safety information and
instructions.
• Read and understand these instructions before
operating this product.
• The installation must comply with all applicable local
or national codes, including the latest edition of the

1 .4 General Safety Messages


WARNING: ELECTRICAL SHOCK, FIRE,
BURN, EXPLOSION, AND/OR MICROWAVE
EXPOSURE HAZARD . Failure to obey the
following warnings could result in death or
serious injury:
• Avoid improper installation, adjustment, alterations,
service, or maintenance of the appliance. Service and
maintenance must be done by a qualified service
person only.
• Do not modify this appliance in any way.
Modification can be extremely hazardous.
• Do not operate the appliance while driving.
• Do not operate this appliance when it is empty.
• Do not attempt to operate this appliance with the
door open. It is important to not defeat or tamper
with the door's safety interlocks.

Explanation of Symbols and Safety Instructions
• Do not operate this appliance if the door does not
close properly or if there is damage to the door, door
hinges, door latches, or the surfaces where the door
seals to the microwave.
• Do not operate this appliance if it is not functioning
properly, has been damaged, or has been dropped.
• Do not handle the power cord or plug with wet
hands or immerse in liquids.
• Do not operate this appliance if the power cord or
plug is damaged.
• Keep the power cord away from hot surfaces.
• If it is necessary to use an extension cord, the
extension cord must be a grounded three-wire cord
and the marked electrical rating must be at least as
great as the electrical rating of the appliance.
• Keep the appliance out of the reach of children or
persons with reduced physical, sensory, or mental
capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge,
unless they have been given supervision or
instruction concerning the use of the appliance by a
person responsible for their safety.
• Children must be closely supervised when using this
appliance. Do not allow children to sit or stand on
any part of the appliance. Do not let the power cord
hang over the counter or table top where children
can reach it.
• Do not place any object between the front of the
appliance and its door.
• Do not use the interior of the appliance for additional
storage space. Do not leave paper products,
cooking utensils, or food in the appliance when it is
not in use.
