8. OPERATION
1) Before starting: check the direction of rotation of the pump. At start-up, the pump will
jerk counter-clockwise when viewed from above. If the direction of rotation is incorrect,
exchange two phases.
2) Reversal of the direction of rotation in a connection which does not have a phase trans-
position mechanism should only be carried out by authorised personnel.
3) If the internal motor protection trips, the pump will stop but will restart automatically
when it has cooled down.

9. SERVICE AND MAINTENANCE

The pump must be disconnected from the power supply before any operation or
maintenance is carried out.
For a complete overhaul of the pump, please contact the supplier who supplied the
equipment. Maintenance should only be carried out by qualified personnel.
1) The pump must be disconnected from the power supply before any operation or
maintenance is carried out.
2) The pump should be inspected regularly for wear and tear.
3) If the pump is operating in a harsh environment, such as pumping abrasive solids or
water with high or low pH, more frequent inspections should be carried out.
4) Preventive maintenance should be carried out to reduce the likelihood of premature
failure.
5) Impellers, wear plates and seals should be replaced when signs of wear are observed.
6) The power cable should be replaced if it is found to be cut or crushed. Never operate the
pump with a cut, crushed or damaged power cable.
7) The oil chamber gasket should be replaced at least twice a year.
8) Before storing the pump after it has been in operation, a complete overhaul should
always be carried out.
9) After a long period of storage, the pump should be inspected and the impeller should be
turned by hand before installing the pump. Particularly carefully check the seals and the
lubrication cable.
