WARNING!
Risk of explosion and fire!
Never use a car charger or a device with automatic desulphation for charging
purposes. Car chargers supply too high a charging current for a motorcycle battery,
which can lead to an explosion in the absolute worst-case scenario.
6.3 | Installation/removal
Before you remove the old battery, switch off all the electrical devices on your motorcycle. Disconnect
the earth connection (–) first of all, then the positive terminal (+), and then remove the old battery.
The DELO lithium-ion batteries are supplied along with various adapters, so a lithium-ion battery can
replace various standard batteries. If necessary, choose the adapter that meets your needs and install
the lithium-ion battery in the appropriate location. The battery cables are connected in reverse order
– remove the dust cap and connect the positive cable to the positive terminal (+) first of all, and then
connect the earth cable (–) to the negative terminal. In this regard, be sure to use the terminal screws
supplied. Prior to connection, clean the cable terminals of the battery cable with a wire brush (corroded
terminals can cause the motorcycle's electrical system to malfunction!). Do not use excessive force to
tighten the screws, as this may distort the battery terminals and damage the battery.
7 | Storage
Store the disused and removed battery in a cool, dry and well-ventilated place, away from flammable,
explosive or metallic objects.
The optimum charge level is between 70% and 80% (4 – 5 bars). Recharge the battery at extended
intervals (see Section 8. Maintenance).
8 | Maintenance
DELO lithium-ion batteries have low self-discharge, and therefore do not have to be kept permanently on
trickle charge when not in use on your motorcycle. Nevertheless, a disused and removed battery should
be charged at least every six months.
If the battery remains installed and connected, your motorcycle's electrical system can drain the
battery. Ensure, therefore, that no silent electrical devices are active (e.g. alarm system, clock) or that
no leakage currents are draining the battery. Discharged batteries can freeze, so always store batteries
in a frost-free location and recharge them after one month at the latest. The lithium-ion batteries are
maintenance-free and may not be opened under any circumstances, as they are destroyed otherwise.
