9 | Troubleshooting

In the event of a fault occurring, try to resolve it with the following measures first of all:
Fault
The battery does not start your motorcy-
cle, and nothing appears on the display
when you press the Test button.
White smoke is escaping from the battery
and the casing is extremely hot.
The charge level indicator does not light
up when you press the Test button, but the
motorcycle can still be started.
The motorcycle can only be started with a
great deal of effort.

10 | Warranty

Your DELO lithium-ion battery comes with the usual Louis two-year warranty. The warranty period begins
on the date of purchase. The warranty does not cover normal wear and tear, use of the battery for
anything other than the intended purpose, damage caused by an accident, or unauthorised or inexpert
modification or repair, or changes to the technical specification. The warranty does not cover damages
caused by improper storage and maintenance either.

Possible causes and remedies
The battery is flat.
• Please check whether the battery in the motorcycle
has been drained by leakage current or a silent
electrical device. Many modern motorcycles still use
power even when switched off, e.g. for the alarm
system, on-board diagnostics, USB adapter, etc. A
quiescent current of 5 mA is not uncommon, but it
adds up quickly over an extended idle time. Over 24
hours, 5 mA corresponds to 0.12 Ah, over seven
days it corresponds to 0.84 Ah, and over one month
it corresponds to 3.60 Ah.
• Was the battery charged with a maximum charging
voltage of 14.6 V and a maximum charging current
according to the battery label? A higher charging
voltage or charging current than specified could have
damaged the battery. Check the charge controller
and/or its charger in this regard.
Possible causes and remedies:
The charging voltage or charging current is too high
(possible causes e.g. incorrectly mounted battery
terminal, defect on the voltage controller and/or the
alternator).
• Please see Section 6.2. Too high a charging voltage
or charging current can damage the battery and even
destroy it in extreme cases.
Possible causes and remedies:
It may be the case that a cable inside the battery
electronics has come loose.
• Please contact the Louis Customer Service team.
Possible causes and remedies:
It may be the case that the voltage is too low.
• Check the battery's charge level. The battery may be
drained after a long idle time and due to connected
electrical devices. Charge the battery with a suitable
charger.
The outside temperatures are around freezing point.
• At temperatures around freezing point, the chemical
process in the battery is slowed down and the
maximum starting power is reduced. This can lead
to starting difficulties in powerful single and twin-
cylinder engines. If possible, activate the battery by
switching an electrical device such as the light on for
20–30 seconds. Energy is consumed and the battery
becomes slightly warmer.
