Grounding Instructions
This appliance must be grounded. If it should malfunction or break down, grounding provides
a path of least resistance for electric current to reduce the risk of electric shock. This appli-
ance is equipped with a cord having an equipment grounding conductor and grounding plug.
The plug must be inserted into an appropriate outlet that is properly installed and grounded in
accordance with all local codes and ordinances.
WARNING: Improper connection of the equipment- grounding conductor can result in a risk
of electric shock.Check with a qualified electrician or service person if you are in doubt as to
whether the outlet is properly grounded. Do not modify the plug provided with the appliance-
–if it will not fit the outlet, have a proper outlet installed by a qualified electrician.
This appliance is for use on a nominal 120 volt circuit and has a grounded plug that looks like
the plug illustrated in sketch A below. A temporary adapter that looks like the adapter illustrat-
ed in sketches B and C may be used to connect this plug to a two pole receptacle, as shown
in sketch B, if a properly grounded outlet is not available. The temporary adapter should be
used only until a properly grounded outlet (sketch A ) can be installed by a qualified electri-
cian. The green colored rigid ear, lug, or the like extending from the adapter must be con-
nected to a permanent ground such as a properly grounded outlet box cover. Whenever the
adapter is used it must be held in place by a metal screw.
NOTE: In Canada, the use of a temporary adapter is not permitted by the Canadian Electrical
Code.

Assembly (Fig. 1)
HANDLE
The handle must be installed on the 20 gallon model (DW795) prior to use. To install the han-
dle, push the handle over the two steel handle receptacles mounted on the tank, making sure
that the spring loaded pins extend completely through all four of the holes in the handle. The
15 gallon model (DW792) does not require assembly.
Functional Features (Fig. 2)
SWITCH
The rocker switch is located on top of the unit as shown (A).
HOSE
Insert the swivel end of the hose into the tank inlet (B) with a slight twisting motion. To remove
the hose grasp the knurled ring on the swivel end of the hose and twist while pulling out.
Operation
The vacuum cleaner is designed to perform as a wet/dry unit with no component changes
required when changing from wet to dry or dry to wet pick-up. It is recommended that the tank
be emptied of any dry contents prior to being used for wet pick-up to facilitate tank cleaning.
Filter (Fig. 3)
The filter (A) can be removed for cleaning or replacement by removing both thumbscrews (C)
holding the filter to the motor housing. The prefilter (B) can then be removed from the filter. To
reinstall the bag slide the slots near the rim of the bag over the ears of the filter cartridge and
pull the top layer of elastic over the top rim of the filter, taking care not to place the bag over
the opening of the filter. Reinstall the filter cartridge by pushing it over the set shutoff mecha-
nism so the ears of the filter cartridge (A) engage the pins on the motor head. Ensure that the
pins protrude through the ears and then reinstall the thumbscrews. NOTE: The thumbscrews
need only be hand tight. Overtightening may damage the motor housing.
Maintenance
Empty the vacuum often, especially when wet debris is in the canister. For your convenience,
a drain is located in the bottom rear of the tank for emptying liquid into a floor drain.
MAINTAIN TOOL WITH CARE. Keep fan area clean for best and safest performance. Follow
instructions for proper maintenance.
Do not attempt to repair the appliance. To assure product safety and reliability, repairs, main-
tenance, and adjustments should be performed by authorized D
Store idle tools. When not in use, the appliance should be stored in a dry, high or locked up
place -- out of reach of children.
CORD AND HOSE STORAGE
The cord should be coiled and held by the small strap provided when the unit is not in use.
The hose can be held in place on the side of the vacuum in the strap provided.
Lubrication
Never lubricate the vacuum cleaner motor. The motor bearings are permanently sealed. This
vacuum is intended for indoor or outdoor use and for wet or dry pick-up, but it is not intended
to be exposed to rain.
