General Warnings

1. Before using the machine, it is essential for safe
and correct operation of the equipment that this
manual be read and fully understood and that all
the instructions be followed. This manual should be
made available to every operator. Extra copies of
this manual will be supplied on request.
2. The Hydrofor™ jack allows the operator to carry out
work with complete safety. Ensure that the machine
is only handed over for use or rigging to an operator
who is trained to operate it in a responsible manner
3. Never use a jack which is not in good working
condition. Replace any jack which is visibly
damaged. A continous monitoring of the condition
of the machine.

used under any circumstances for lifting people.

the toe of the jack a load or effort greater than the
working load limit.
8. Ensure that the load is always correctly aligned with
the jack.
9. IMPORTANT: If the equipment described in this
manual is supplied to an employed person, check
and ensure that you meet your obligations with
respect to the safety at work regulations, particularly
relating to inspection and tests before operation
(See section 7).
10. The load being lifted must be guided laterally so that
the toe of the jack, when it is used, cannot turn on
its axle when lifting..

11. When using the toe of the jack ensure that at least 3
teeth of the toe are in contact with the load.
12. The products comply with the requirements of the
European standard EN 1494.
13. Never operate the jack under severe conditions,
for example, in extreme climates, in a freezer or in
strong magnetic fields.
14. Never operate the jack in potentially explosive
atmospheres.
15. The lifespan of the jack can be up to 20 years when
used in accordance with this manual and inspected
and maintained annually.
16. Be careful when handling loads of a nature that
could lead to a hazardous situation, e.g. molten
metal, acids, radiant materials, especially fragile
loads.
17. The product must not come into direct contact with
foodstuffs.
18. The product is not allowed to operate on sea-going
vessels.
19. No modifications should be made to this product.
20. The A-weighted emission sound pressure level of
this product is less than 70dB(A).
21. It is necessary for the operator to be able to monitor
the lifting device and the load during all movements.
22. Labels should be checked regularly. If they are not
legible, replace them with the original labels.

1. Description of Equipment

The Hydrofor™ jack is a manually operated single block
hydraulic ram with a projecting lifting toe. It is easily
carried by its retractable handle. The Hydrofor™ jack
should never be carried by its operating lever.

2. Operating Instructions

To use the jack, operate the lever. Should the ram not
extend, make sure that the release button is tightened
by hand.
The action of the operating lever may be stopped at any
time. The load is held firmly.
To lower the load, turn the release button by hand to
the left. During lowering, the release button may be
retightened. Lowering is stopped and the load held
firmly.
To prevent the jack tipping during lifting, a wooden
wedge should be positioned between the body of the
jack and the load, as near the head of the jack as
possible. (See Fig. 1.)
