The DPI 610E (Table 1) is a handheld pressure calibrator
with an in-built pressure generation manual pump and
electrical measurement and simulation. The instrument is
available in Intrinsically safe (IS) and non-intrinsically safe
(Non-IS) variants (See Table 1). It is intended to be used to
calibrate pressure sensors and transmitters by service or
maintenance engineers.
Note: Unless otherwise stated in the section heading, the
following content relates to all models listed above.
1.2 Safety Warnings and Cautions
INFORMATION
designed this equipment to be safe when used
as detailed in this manual. Operators should
read and obey all local Health and Safety
regulations and Safe Working Procedures or
Practices.
Note: Before using this instrument, read and understand
the Safety section, user manual and all instructions. This
includes: applicable local safety procedures and
installation standards, and this document.
Note: Installation should be carried out by qualified plant
installation technicians in compliance with all local safety
procedures and installation standards. For example:
IEC/EN 60079-14, US National Electrical Code NFPA 70 or
Canadian Electrical Code (CEC).
Note: The DPI 610E has been designed to be safe when
operated using the procedures detailed in this manual. It is
dangerous to ignore the specified warnings. Do not use this
equipment for any other purpose than that stated otherwise
the protection provided by the equipment may be impaired.
Note: External circuits should have appropriate isolation to
mains voltages.
WARNING
Some liquid and gas mixtures
are dangerous. This includes mixtures that
occur because of contamination. Make sure
that the DPI 610E is safe to use with the
proposed media.
Do not use in an enriched oxygen
environment or with other strong oxidisers -
this can cause an explosion.
Do not use tools on the DPI 610E that might
cause incendive sparks - this can cause an
explosion.

The manufacturer has
RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK
electrical shocks or damage to the instrument,
do not connect more than 30V CAT I between
the terminals or between the terminals and the
ground (earth). Any connection must be
compliant with the terminal input/output
parameters. For further explanation, see
"Over-voltage categories" on page 3.
WARNING
This instrument uses a Lithium-
ion (Li-ion) battery pack. The battery pack is
not user serviceable. To prevent an explosion
or fire, do not short circuit, do not
disassemble, and keep it safe from damage.
To prevent an explosion or fire, use only the
Druck specified power supply/charger (Part:
IO610E-PSU).
To prevent battery leakage/damage or excess
heat generation, only use the mains power
supply in the ambient temperature range 0 to
40°C (32 to 104°F). The power supply input
range is 90 – 264 Vac, 50 to 60Hz, 300-600mA,
installation category CAT II.
To prevent a dangerous release of pressure,
make sure that all the related pipes, hoses and
equipment have the correct pressure rating,
are safe to use and are correctly attached.
Isolate and bleed the system before you
disconnect a pressure connection.
CAUTION
When using the power supply
position it so as not to obstruct the supply
disconnecting device.
Always wear appropriate eye protection when
working with pressure.
Note: Maximum Operating Pressure (MWP) is stated on
the label on the underside of DPI610E. Over pressure to be
limited to 1.2 × MWP.
WARNING
It is dangerous to attach an
external source of pressure to a DPI 610E. Use
only the internal mechanisms to set and
control pressure in the pressure station.
INFORMATION
internal over-pressure vent mechanism to
protect the internal pressure sensor and
pump mechanism from damage.
CAUTION
Do not use hydrogen with the
instrument or its accessories.
To prevent a dangerous release of pressure,
isolate and bleed the system before
disconnecting a pressure connection. A
dangerous release of pressure can cause
injury.
To prevent damage to the instrument, do not
allow dirt into the pressure mechanism. Clean
any attached equipment before connection.
The unit must be vented prior to switching the
pump mechanism between vacuum and
pressure (or vice-versa) to prevent damage to
the seals in the pump mechanism.
