The caliber 324 S C FUS movement
Travel Time function simultaneously indicates
the time in two different time zones. This makes
it an ideal companion for people who are often
on the move, be it for business or pleasure. The
ingenious and exclusive mechanism, based on a
Patek Philippe patent granted in 1959, premiered
in 1997; its fascination derives from the fact that it
is extremely simple to operate and eminently leg-
ible. The watch has two differently designed center
hour hands: the solid hand shows local time and
the skeletonized hand indicates home time at the
owner's principal place of residence or work. En
route, all it takes to adjust local time hour by hour
clockwise or counterclockwise is gentle pressure
on either of the two buttons in the side of the
case. When such adjustments are made, the local
time hand is disconnected from the movement,
so the accuracy of time displayed by the minute
and seconds hands is not compromised. The dou-
ble day/night indicators for home time and local
time are very useful in that they prevent uninten-
tional nighttime phone calls that might wake up
loved ones or colleagues. The date is referenced
to local time. If the display of a second time zone
is not needed, the two hour hands are superposed
and move in unison. Thus, the owner of a Travel
Time watch actually possess two timepieces in
one. It combines the very useful display of two
time zones with the convenience of a self-wind-
ing movement that features a Spiromax
spring in Silinvar
that enhances the rate accuracy and reliability of
your watch.
