OPERATING PRINCIPLE AND DESCRIPTION OF ENERGISER
An electric fence consists of an energiser and an insulated fence. The energiser supplies the fence
with short electrical pulses. The electric fence presents a "physical" and "psychological" barrier
to animals. The short high-voltage pulses are very unpleasant and animals will quickly learn to
respect the electric fence. A properly installed electric fence can provide a high level of safety
and has many advantages compared to a purely mechanical fence. As a psychological barrier,
the electric shock discourages animals from trying to get over the fence. Less work and fewer
materials are required, alterations are easily made, it is suitable for a very wide range of animals
and offers a great deal of protection against injury.
The high-power VOSS.farming XTREME duo RF energisers are suitable for long fences and fences
that are affected by plant overgrowth, where maximum efficiency and reliability are required. The
integrated microprocessor controls the entire operating process, ensuring optimum performance
in terms of condition of the fence and the current situation.
The load on the fence is constantly measured during operation. The power output of the VOSS.
farming XTREME duo RF energiser is automatically adjusted in order to maintain the desired
output voltage within the maximum load range. In this way, energy consumption is adjusted to the
state of the fence. A good fencing system with little overgrowth ensures minimal consumption,
while poorer fence systems are automatically adjusted using more power. This control system
makes a major contribution to energy saving if high-quality fences with little overgrowth are used.

For energisers with a power output over 5J, the special requirements of the relevant
standard must be observed. These stipulate a time delay for power increases, thereby
guaranteeing safety.
VOSS.farming XTREME duo RF energisers have a time delay of 50 seconds. This means that
when the fence is under strain, and its resistance falls below 500 ohms (heavy undergrowth,
fallen branches etc.), the energiser supplies a maximum of 5J for a period of 50 seconds.
If the resistance of the fence does not increase within this time (due to the cause having
been eliminated), the energiser increases the output power stepwise (e.g. up to 15J in the
case of the XTREME X200 RF model).
An additional function is the warning given if the fence is suddenly placed under strain.
If the resistance of the fence suddenly falls from more than 1000 to less than 400 ohms
in the space of a single pulse (fallen branches, trapped animal or person...), an alarm is
triggered after six pulses – a beep tone sounds and the red LED flashes. At the same time,
the interval between pulses is slowed down to 3 seconds. The alarm is switched off after
the fence resistance has increased to more than 600 ohms or after 10 minutes have passed.
Both functions are independent of one another and autonomous.
