TIP 6: IMPROVING THE GROUNDING
1. Drive the grounding stake roughly 1 m deep into permanently moist soil 10 m away from the
building.
2. Drive in several grounding stakes at a distance of at least 3 m and connect them with one
another. The grounding stakes must be made of rustproof material, e.g. stainless steel, or must
be galvanised.

1. ELECTRIC FENCE ENERGISER
The energiser is responsible for supplying the safety fence system with electricity. Which device
is suitable depends on the overall fence layout, the type of animals to be protected/deterred
and the connection options, among other factors. Possible choices are 9 V battery devices, 12 V
battery devices or 230 V energisers powered via a mains connection.
2. HIGH-VOLTAGE CABLE
This cable is highly versatile. Its uses include connecting the electric fence energiser to the
grounding stake and connecting the grounding stakes to one another. In addition, high voltage
cables are used for near-ground or underground electricity transmission.
N OTICE
Only single-wire cables (suitable for high voltages) may be used, never proprietary
3-wire domestic cables (NYM cables). Cladding over long stretches, using a garden
hose or empty pipe, is suitable for preventing damage from stones, animal bites etc.
3. GROUNDING STAKE/GROUNDING
The basic precondition for a functioning electric fence, optimum fence voltage and guaranteed
animal safely is a good grounding system. The optimum distance of grounding stakes from one
