6. PROBLEM SOLVING
Problem
Engine does not start and does not
make noise.
Pump does not deliver the required
flow rate.
Pump stops suddenly.
Flow decreases.
Low or insufficient flow

Cause
Is the pump clogged and does the
pump start when fully submerged?
Does the impeller rotate and is it in
good condition?
Is the pump inlet free?
Does the requested delivery head
exceed the pump requirements or is
the discharge pipe too narrow?
Are you sure that the pump inlet is
not clogged?
Does the mains power match the
rating plate?
Is the liquid temperature below
35°C?
Is the pump inlet clean and is the
impeller clean?
Are you sure that the pump inlet is
not clogged?
Is the impeller clean?
Are you sure that the outlet pipe is
not clogged? Is the diameter of the
discharge pipe sufficient?

Solution
Check your electrical installation.
Check that the float can move
freely.
Eliminate the reason for the
blockage.
Replace impeller. Clean the pump
inlet.
Use the pump according to its
technical capabilities.
Increase the pipe diameter.
Disconnect the pump from the
mains and let it cool down for a few
tens of minutes.
Clean the pump inlet.
Use a power supply that matches
the nameplate.
Observe the maximum permissible
temperature.
Clean the area(s) in question.
Clean the area(s) in question and
check the check valve, if applicable.
Connect a pipe with a suitable
diameter and eliminate the
reduction of the water flow.
